Linda Briner, Yoncalla, Breaks Arm In Horse Fall By MRS. GEORGE EDES Linda Briner, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Wilbur Briner, fell off her horse Sunday and broke ber right arm at the shoulder. She was taken to the Cottage Grove Hospital where a doctor set the bone and put her arm in a cast. She returned home with her parents. Visit In California Mr anH Mm. Kpliv T.atham and family returned home Saturday after spending two weeks in Dow ney. Calif. While there they vis ited many places of interest. On their way home, they visited at the Elton Grass home in Look- lngglass. Kent Billeter of El wood. Neb., returned home with them for a short visit. He will return to California and enter college for his freshman year. Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Means and two sons spent the weekend at the beach. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Kirkelie have rented a small house west of Scottsburg for the summer. Those spending Sunday at the coast were Mr. and Mrs. Felix Latham and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Emery and daughter. Quigley and daughter, Barbara, of Richmond, Calif., Mrs. Ruth Quigley of Jacksonville, Thomas Huntington and daughter, Sunnie, of Bend, Mrs. Sarah Wertt of Cor vallis, Peret Huntington of Sisters and Mrs. Mary Eastman, Sarah Huett, and Cynthia Eastman of Roscburg. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan C. Conaway and family of Lincoln, Neb. are visiting at the Carl Conaway home in Scotts Valley. Eddie and Charles Curtis, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Curtis, spent the past week with relatives in Gardiner. Guests at the James Portlock home last week were Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lord of Washington, Celora Painter of Pittsburg, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Baska of Washington. Injured Jim Portlock was hit with a stick in the face while working at the Phillips Mill last week. His bruises and lacerations were not bad enough to keep him from work. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Phillips spent three days attending the Bend water pageant in eastern Oregon, the Crawfordsville Rodeo and the Timber Days celebration at Albany. A coyote was killed near the Phillips Mill last week by Harold Phillips. Mr. and Mrs.' Bud Arnold and daughter, Cuba Lea, of Sutherlin Carden Valley' Residents Visit With Relatives By ADDIE SCHNEIDER Mr. and Mrs. Albert Soles of Modesto, Calif., stopped to visit with the Carl Schmidts. They had traveled on the Alcan highway to Prince Rupert, B.C., to visit Soles' sister and returned to Van couver, B. C. by boat. Mrs. Soles is a sister of Schmidt. Visit Sitters Wednesday Mrs. Carl Schmidt took her brother, John Rudeen, of Seattle, Wash., to Elkton to visit their sisters, Mrs. Frank Madison and Mrs. Charles Madison. Fri day Mrs. Schmidt took her daugh ter, Mrs. Robert Fielding, and her children, Bobby and Ronnie, and returned to Elkton to take her brother to Eugene to catch the train for home. Cindy Post recently returned from Portland where she had been visiting her' grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Pember ton have sold their home to Mr. and Mrs. Russcl Wait of Eden bower. The Waits have two sons and plan to move in soon. The Fembertons are moving to Rose burg where they plan to build a new home. Mr. and Mrs. Clem Schneider and, Marvin, spent Sunday with Adam Schneider on the Looking- glass Road. Mrs. Harry Hill and children, Gary, and Linda and Donna Lee, had lunch recently with Mrs. Clem Schneider and Marvin. Local News visited at the Harold Phillips home in Hayhurst Valley last week. Mr. and Mrs. Frank England and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Herring have moved their trailer hous es to Tyee where their husbands will be employed this summer working in the woods. They will move back to Yoncalla in the fall. Stanley Snider and Charles Turner accompanied Mrs. Ellet Turner to Wenatchee, Wash., last week. The boys will try to find work, and Mrs. Turner will help her daughter, Mrs. Dail Reed, for a couple of months.
