Local Community News Briefs ! Mrs. Liwii Horn Mrs. Edgar Lewis, owner of the Mabel Lewit i Dress Shop, returned to Roseburg i Thursday following the last couple of weeks on I buying trip in New York. Ill W. L. Tozer has been con fined to his home by illness for the last several days. Visit Miss Mary Anne Peter son, Eugene, visited her father 0. J. Peterson on Lookingglass Road last weekend. Here For Weekend Don Dick of Rogue River is spending the weekend in Roseburg as the house guest of Mr. and Mrs. Sig Felt and family. Go To Portland Mr. and Mrs. Sam Kendall of Roseburg loft to day for Portland to spend the holi day weekend visiting relatives and friends. Son Is Born Joel Kirk, weigh ing 6 pounds 14 ounces, was born June 27 to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kingery at their home at 624 Ave. A., Roseburg. Visits Daughter E. T. Lloyd of Salt Lake City, Utah, is. visit ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wirak and daughters in West moreland. Lloyd is the father of Mrs. Wirak. Recent Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith and children of Port land were recent visjtors in Rose burg with Mrs. Smith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Graver Blake on North Stephens Streot. The Smiths formerly resided here. Visitors Leave Mrs. Elmo At tcrbury and daughter, Mary El lon, of Medford were visitors in Roseburg this week. They came especially for the silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Atterbury, which took place Sun day. Return Home Mrs. Maud Hayes and Lloyd Edwards, aunt and brother, of Ernest Edwards of Roseburg, left for their homes Wednesday following a visit here. They also visited relatives in Port land and Eureka, Calif. The for mer resides at Cedar Junction, Iowa; the latter at Ashland, Neb. In Washington D.C. Mrs. Wl- wood Wiles and her son, Robert, have gone to Washington D, C. to spent six weeks while the latter does special work at the museum. Robert is employed at the Nor folk, Va. museum. Mrs. Wiles and Robert are both well-known In Roseburg having made their home here for a time with the formers sister, Miss Naomi Scott. Home On Vacation Miss Nan cy Allen of Eugene arrived home today for a month's vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Allen, of Winchester. Back From Vacation Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Morrison have returned to their home on Harvard Avenue after several days vacationing at Vancouver, Wash., and points of interest on the coast. Return Here Mrs. Elma Good man and Mrs. M. S. Green have returned to their homes in Rose burg following a trip to coastal points and as far south as Cres cent City. At Perkins Home Miss Sandra Forrest of Reedsport is spending the week in Roseburg visiting at the home of her aunt, Mrs. John Perkins, and family on Hawthorne Drive. Goes To Portland Mrs. Barton Garrison left today for Portland to attend the wedding of her sis ter. Miss Patricia Howard. She will be joined there for the holi day weekend by her husband; ; - Take Trip Mr. and Mrs. Rich ard Firman Sr. are expected to re turn to Roseburg today from a week's trip to San Diego, where they visited his sister and family. Return Here Mr. and Mrs. Len Mitchell have returned to their home in Roseburg following a trip to Aberdeen, Wash., to at tend the funeral of an aunt after which they went on to Olympia and Seattle to spend 10-days vacationing. Leave For Home Mr. and Mrs. Carl Muller left today for their home in Salem. Mr. Muller has spent the week in Klamath Falls on business and Mrs. Mul ler was in Roseburg as the house guest of Dr. and Mrs. Verner An derson. The -Mullers made their home here before going to Salem. Former Resident Visits Miss Betty Brown, former child wel fare worker with the Douglas Coun ty Welfare Dept., was a visitor in Roseburg this week. Miss Brown has spent the last two years at the University of Denver, School of Social Work. This June she re cieved her masters degree. She will start work as a child welfare worker in Klamath Falls July 1. Arriving For Visit Mrs. J. Taggert and son, Stewart, of Van couver, B.C., are arriving in Rose burg this weekend to spend two weeks as the guests of the form mer's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walsh. When they return home Mrs. Walsh and children will go to Vanouver for a visit with relatives and friends. Walsh will take his family to Van couver and then return here and will later go back to bring them home. j Goes To California Mrs. Zan-1 na Keller of Roseburg has gone to Los Angeles to spend the summer j at the home of her daughter, Mrs. ! Neva R. Hanshaw, to assist in the j care of the latter's two daughters, : Kay and Marilyn, while their mother who works in the El Ca mina College library takes a spe-! cial summer course of study. Will Visit Miss Linda Ed wards will come to Roseburg this weekend to spend a month visiting her father, Ernest Edwards, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Sanders, and other relatives. She resides in Eureka, Calif. To Take Trip Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Strickling and their grand children, Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Onge, plan to leave tomorrow on a week's trip to Redding and Sacramento, Calif., to visit various relatives. To Visit Here Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jacobs and small son of Eureka, Calif., are expected to spend the weekend here at the at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Jacobs, and also with Mrs. Jacobs's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Sanders. Return To Los Angelas Mr. and Mrs. Stcn Lobeck and daugh ters, Evelyn and Carolyn, have returned to their home in Los Ang geles, following a visit in Rose burg with the former's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ed win Rand, and family. Reported Critically III Accord ing to word received here, Mrs. Ethel Barker is critically ill at her home in New York. Mrs. Barker is well - known here, having visit ed here a number of times with her sister, Mrs. P. T. Bubar, and family. Mrs Bubar left Sunday for the East to be with her sister. In Seattle Mr. and Mrs. Ver non Wilson of Roseburg are now in Seattle, where the latter is con valescing from a recent illness at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Jack, 19466 Normandy Park Drive, Se attle, Wash. Mr. Wilson will enter a hospital in Seattle for major surgery. Trick and daughter, Shannon, of Roseburg will enjoy the weekend at Brietenbush and Mehama and will spend Monday in Eugene visiting friends. Returns To Work Mrs. May me Johnson has returned to her work in Uie office of B. W. Cow brought, acct., 'following a week's vacation. She and Mr. Johnson spent several days at coastal points. Former Resident Visits Mrs. D. F. Fraundeiner of Mapleton and formerly of Roseburg visited friends in Roseburg several days this week. She was house guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Herman. Crushes Hand Clifford Vang of Sutherlin is reported to be set ting along nicely at Mercy Hos pital, where he was taken this week to receive surgery on a crushed hand which he suffered while logging. Return From Portland Major and Mrs. Plin Laurance have re turned to Roseburg following a business trip to Portland. They arc attending to business here before going to Illinois, where Major Lau rance will report at Chanute Air Force Base.- To Visit Son Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rush and son, Larry, plan to go to Fort Ord, Calif., this week end to visit their son, Pvt. Donald Rush, who is attending mechanic's school there. They will also be ac companied by Toni Felkner. Visit Her Mr. and Mrs. K. H. Pickens and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Taylor of Salem were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Pick ens at their summer place on the North Umpqua. Mr. Pickens is a brother and Mrs. Taylor is a sis ter of Ivan Pickens. Sunday they were joined for the day by the K. H. Pickens' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Brewer Mills, and children, Kay, Tommy and Jimmy, of Coos Bay. Recent Visitor ' Harold Appel of Eugene was a recent business visitor ia Roseburg. Will Go To Klamath Fills Mr. and Mrs. Charles Williamson of Roseburg plan to spend the week end visiting in Klamath Falls. Coming From San Francisco Mrs. Clark Leedy of San Francis co is exoeeted to arrive in Rose burg this weekend to visit her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jenkins. Will Visit Hr Mr. and Mrs. John Howard of Corvallis are ex pected to arrive in Roseburg next Tuesday for a visit at the home of the former's brother-in-law' and sister, Dr. and Mrs. George E. Houck, on South Stephens Street. Mak Trip Mr. and Mrs. Her schel Scott, who recently moved from Roseburg to Ashland, have returned from a trip to Victoria and Vancouver, B.C., and to east ern Oregon. Scott attended a meet ing Thursday of the Rosebur Ro tary Club. Amateur equipment is available In two film sizes: 8 nvm and 16 mm. 8 mm film costs roughly one fourth that of the larger size, but the picture is not as sharp. How ever, it is more than adequate for home projection. 16 mm is ideal for projection in auditoriums, and for other uses vdirre maxi mum detail and sharpness are re quired. . . .
