Her From Portland Visitors this week at the Robert Alspaugh home are Mr. and Mrs. I. B. llazeltine and daughter, Pat, of Portland. Attend Dance A large group of square dancers from Cottage Grove were in Roseburg Saturday night to attend the dance at the fairgrounds. Several callers of the group participated. Visit Reynolds Weekend vis itors at the home of Mr. and Mcs. H. R. "Curley" Reynolds were there'couslns, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Rowe, of Eugene, and Mr. 2nd Mrs. Mayhew Gillies of Portland. Attend Meeting Mr. and Mrs. Homer Grow returned home over the weekend from Newport, where the former attended the high school agriculture instructor's con- 'Xcrence. The meeting lasted sev eral days. Visiting Visitors the past sev eral days at the Chester DcWitt home are their daughters, Mrs. Jack Student ana her daughter, Lee Anna, from Gilchrist, Ore., and Mrs. Millard Roberts and her son, Robbie, from Eugene. Visits Here Mrs. Allah John' son has returned to her home at Jennings Lodge after a weeks visit here at the home of her brother-in-law, Leo Wilkerson, and family. She was en route home from a trip to tl raso, Texas. From Nswport Former local residents, Mr. and Mrs. Ver non Bristow, now of Newport, spent the weekend in Roseburg. Back From Hospital George Leeper, who underwent surgery in a Eugene hospital recently has been convalescing the past ten days at his home here. His daugh ter, Mrs. Dorothy Silke, of Salem, came Tuesday to visit him and took him to Eugene Wednesday to have stitches removed. Brother Visits Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hodges of Bremerton, Wash., are visiting at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hodges, 321 E. Second Ave. S. E. L. Hodges was former ly a policeman in Roseburg, and he and his wife have many friends and relatives- here. Return To Eugene Mrs. George McBride (Marion Slattery) and Mrs. Eric Robatham (Eileen Slattery) have returned to their homes in Eugene, following a trip to Roseburg to attend the funeral of their grandfather, Britt S. Nich ols, and to visit their mother, Mrs. T. J. Slattery. From Eugene Mr. and Mrs. Dale M. Petersen of Eugene spent the weekend here at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Plummer. While here the group observed the first wedding anni versary of the Petersens, and the 27th anniversary of the Plummers, who were married in Forest Grove June 20, 1928. The Peter sens were married June 20 of last year at Roseburg.- Hartfiels Back Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hartfiel returned to their home here Sunday from a month's vacation trip. They were accom . panied by Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hamilton of Riddle. The group spent about two weeks in the uran ium mining area. They went to Hanksville, Utah, and watched several mines in operation, and visited the processing plants at Grand Junction, Colo. They stop ped at Moab, Utah, which is the center of the mining area. Fol lowing a trip through Bryce and Zion canyons, they returned home by way of Yosemite Park. Hart fiel returned to' his law office Mon day morning. Visiting In Myrtle Point Jill Booher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Booher of this city, is spend ing the week in Myrtle Point visit ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson and family. Picnic Postponed The Sunday School and church picnic of the First Baptist Church has been postponed Irom haturaay oi tnis week to late July. The date will be announced later. Weekend Guosti Guests last weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otho Gosnell were Vr. and Mrs. M. A. Morton and son, Jinv mie, of Eugene. The group went to the coast Sunday. From Portland Charles Mar tin of Portland has arrived in Roseburg to work this summer for the Stebinger Lumber Co. He has been visiting at the Earl T, Clark home. Back From Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Jack McGuire and two sons have returned to their home, on Glenn Street, following , a vaca tion in California. McGuire is man ager of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. here. Hero Over Weokend Mr. and Mrs. Newton Kenze and daughter, Lorna, of San Bruno, Calif., and Mrs. Kenze's mother, Mrs. Alice Neville, of Loveland, Colo., were in Roseburg over the weekend vis iting Mr. and Mrs. John Sutton. Goes To Chicago William Car stens of Oarstens Furniture Store in Roseburg, has left by plane for Chicago to attend the furniture market. He was accompanied by Rusty Hampton of Hampton's Fur niture Store in The Dalles. They will return west in a new automo bile of Hampton's.
