Rodeo Parade Winners Snapped Mon., June 20, 1955 The Newt-Review, Roieburg, Ore. 9 Vital Statistics 1 " i Miff"? ' I 7--.. '.''11, NON-COMMERCIAL winner in Saturday's rodeo parade was this Indian teepee float of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. The entry took a $75 first prize. Green Residents Travel For Three Weeks In The East By MARY WEIKUM Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Johnson, ac Ferguson, have returned from a three week trip to the east. They companied by her father, B. A. traveled through Nev., Ariz., and N.M., then north 4o Denver, where they visited friends. They left Ferguson at North Platte, where he stayed a few days before going on to Bassett, Neb. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson visited Johnson's four brothers and their families in Pender, Neb., for a week, then headed west to pick up Ferguson. Enroute home they traveled through Wyo., where they visited Yellowstone Park, and Idaho where they visitted friends in Caldwell, traveling 4500 miles In all. They report that the south and mid-west is suffering from severe drought, and subject to dujst storms and tornadoes. Visits Family J. Gravening, Linnell Avenue, left Saturday evening by plane, for Bismark, N.D., where he plans to remain for two weeks visiting his brother and family, whom he has not seen for 17 years. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Buchold and daughters of Eefford, Mont., are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Vatland and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Buchold. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Lovelady and daughters, Carol and Judy of Tucson, Aril;, returned to the Green district for the summer. They are living in the small house belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Grov er FoUett. Mrs. Follett and Mrs. Lovelady are sisters. Lovelady will be engaged in the logging business. I Keith Husen, instructor at Cen tral Junior High School, has gone to AShland where he will attend the summer session of the South ern Oregon College. Mrs. Husen will remain at her home for the summer. Joint Husband Mrs. Ed Moothart has gone to South Dakota to join her husband and visit relatives there. She ex pects to be gone several weeks. Petersdorf will be coach, and boys from the ages of C to IS may register. Mrs. Cora Moore of Roscoe, Neb., is visiting with her grand son, Alvin Terrell and family of Stella Street. Mrs. Moore, who is 80 years old, plans on staying here for some time -visiting the Ter- rells and -other relatives. Mrs. Jack Toi , was called to Sacramento recently to attend the funeral of her father. Mrs. Bella Holm, Mrs. L e I a Sherwood, Mary Lynn Holm and Patricia Martin motored to Port land. Friday, to attend the Rose Festival. They report having en joy(!d the colorful floats. Miss Martin remained there to visit with her parents, who had come west . to attend their daughter's wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Steinhau- er of Myrtle Creek were visiting in this district recently. They were former residents of Green, having sold their farm and then entering the hardware business in Myrtle CreeK. Miss Charlene Smith of Myrtle Creek has been a guest of her friend, Miss Sally Smith of Glen- gary. 'Wildflowers Of West', Film Made Available A new film, entitled "Wildflow ers of the "West," has been made available to the service and gar den clubs of the estern states. The 16 mm. sound film has a running time of 27 minutes. All six of the western states and their official state flowers are covered. Sponsoring the film is the Rich field Oil Corp. The new film has been shown to small, civic-minded organizations and has been found suitable for all age groups. Many items of handcraft were made and each group learned many songs and scripture verses. On the last day the youngsters were treated to ice cream as a surprise. Glendale Newlyweds Fly To By MRS. GERALD B. FOX Word was received in Glendale Thursday of last week, that Dr. Howard Ferguson and his new bride expected to fly to New York from San Francisco. Their plans were to leave by air for southern Ireland, June 12. The couple will spend two weeks in Ireland before going to Austria where Dr. Fer guson will take up graduate study. Visit Brother Mr. and Mrs. Calvin McDowell and children returned Monday from Marysville, Calif., : where they visited his brother who is still hospitalized,, but improving follow ing a highway accident. Mrs. Clar ence May, mother of the boys, re turned lere to visit with both the Calvin McDowells, the Maurice McDowells, and other Glemlalo friends.
