Of the jobs which the commission wants to put in the new program, the Salem-Eugene project is the most spectacular. The present modern two-lane highway from Salem to Albany would be widened to four lanes by constructing a highway parallel to the present route. A four-lane route would be built from North Albany to connect with the modern two-lane route south of Eugene. The road, which would by-pass Albany, Eugene and Springfield, would be straight as an arrow for 32 miles from North Albany to the Lane County line. It would be the longest stretch of straight road in the state. The commission already has MODEST '"I storied playing the d.long FUEESLE ON FUVTBUSH AVENUE. 1 PROFk.40R. LONGHA.R&S SCHOOL .
