The an nual meeting, scheduled at the li brary arts building on the Rose burg High School mmpus, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., will be one of the largest of the year. Being installed for a second con secutive term are the president, Mrs. R. J. ( This was a day of sewing and washing and ironing and cooking just like many at home for the 49 contestants for the title of Mrs. America. But it was also like a vacation: The children aren't here. Man Thrown From Horse Said Slightly Improved PORTLAND (jfl Allen Owen, 18, injured April 27 when thrown by a horse while working on a ranch near Hermiston, is slowly improving in a hospital, his physi cian said here Thursday. The doctor reported his level of consciousness is gradually becom ing higher and he "definitely is on the upgrade." The physician estimated his recovery at "35 to 40 per cent," which he called en couraging in view of the youth's poor condition when - he was broughf here.
