ALBANY. Ore. W The Linn
County public welfare administra
tor has reported that a -vear-old
welfare recipient hoarded $4,420 in I
casn.
Mrs. Lucille McBridc, the wel

he probably saved the money from
the $6,742 he has'received in wel
fare payments in the past 12 years.
That would mean he had spent
only $2,322 since 1943.
The hoarding came to light when
the welfare commission moved the
man to a boarding house because
he no longer was competent to
care for himself.
Some $900 in bills was found
crammed in his pockets when he
was undressed for a bath. The wel
fare commission was notified and
a search made of the quarters he
formerly occupied. More than 53,

$20 bills.
Mrs. XrcBride said the money
had been deposited In a bank. It
will be used to care for him until
his death and anything left will
be turned over to the state.
