Their president, Bernice Judd, con ducted the meeting with 18 girls ana ineir junior leader, Marietta Wunsoo, answering roll call. They are working on the three projects that must be completed before achievement day. Betty Tel ler gave the three new aims for each member. They are: to do a good turn tor someone each day, to obey direction and to do all jobs well. A talk on needles was eiven bv Diane Coffey. Judy Bacon gave a demonstration of using a paper sack in sewing. ELKTON FRESHMEN SPONSOR PARTY FRIDAY The Freshman Class of Elkton High School sponsored an April Fool's Party Friday. Refreshments were served. Sev eral prizes were awarded during the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Bartholomew and Mr. Crisman were chaperones. Butner and daughter, Mary Lynne, and son, Robert, of Dan ville, Oalif., have arrived in Rose burg to visit the former's mother-in-law, Mrs. Foster Butner, and with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mi's. A. J. Elli son, and family. Mrs. Foster But ner, who has been quite ill, is re ported to be improving in health. Arrive Here Mr. and M r s. Elwin Myrick and family of Eu gene will arrive here Saturday to be guests of the Rev. and Mrs. Ellsworth Tilton. Mir. Myrick, who is professor of music at North west Christian College and is also on the faculty at University of Oregon, will be the organist Sat urday evening at the First Metho dist Church sacred music concert at 8 o'clock at the church. UMPQUA SCHOOL GROUP DONATES TO SCHOOL The April meeting of the Ump qua School Association was held Friday at the Community Hall. The business meeting was con ducted by Melba Germond, presi dent. It was voted to give the school $20 to purchase baseball equip ment. The program was given by the second and third grades, un der the direction of Agnes Wilcox, teacher. Refreshments were served by second grade mothers. Veneta Peery, chairman, was assisted by Flo Rippstein, Esther Mobr and Kitty Roeder. CANYONVILLE LION LADIES PLAN EASTER EGG HUNT The annual Easter egg hunt sponsored by the Lions Auxiliary of Canyonville for children of pre school and grade school ages, will be held at the Canyonville county park at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, according to Mrs. MiHon Herbert, president of the organization. , The county park is about three miles east of Canyonville on the i Days Creek Road. A sign marking a turn to the left clearly indicates the turn-off to the park. MRS. MARIE COUNTS TO HAVE CIRCLE MEETING Mary Circle of the Dillard-Win-ston Methodist Church will hold its April 12 meeting at the home of Mrs. Marie Counts, with Tlrs. Pearl Fanus as co-hostess. Dolls are the project of the month for the bazaar. SOUTH DEER CREEK LADIES SERVE DINNER Ladies of the South Deer Creek Grange served a pre-Easter din ner to the members of the Police Reserves and their families at the Grange Hall last Sunday after noon.
