April 4, at 7:30 p.m. The theme for uie evening will be "Let a Hon' or Our Youth." Dr. James Millar, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will be the gues'. speaker. He will speak on the subject. -"Youth in This World Today" and then wUl be moderator for a panel discussion on the subject "What is lUffht with Our Youth Today." This panel be composed of six sixth graders from the school. The youth will know the topic but the discussion will be unrehearsed. The first grade teachers, Mrs. Bodenner, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Meiling, Mrs. Richman and Mrs. Wikoff. have planed displays and a demonstration of their school work. Mrs. Bodenner, chairman of this portion ot tne program, will explain the technique of teaching chaldron to read. The teachers will be glad to answer any questions concerning their work at the close of the meeting. The yough leaders of the school will be recognized. The Blue Birds, rwn Fire PtK Cub Scouts, and 4-H Girls will furnish displays ii thc'r work. The 4-H G'rls will pre wnt a humorous skit "Postures On Parde." under the direc tion of their leader, Mrs. Fred Harder. MRS. NOBLE TO BE " GUEST SPEAKER TUESDAY Mrs. Homer M. Noble of Oak land will be the guest speaker on the topic, "Birds," at a meeting of the Roseburg Woman's Club next Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the clubhouse according to an an nouncement by Mrs. H. r Beau chimp, chairman for the day. JVrs. Noble is the wife of the astor of the Oakland Community Tresbytenan Church. She is a bird onth'usiast and is now serving as Umpaua District Bird chairman of the Federated Garden Clubs. She also thanked Mrs. J. E. Thomas and Oakes Grocery for sharing the ex penses of the show. It was announced that the April meeting would be the annual Ice Cream Social. Following the mee'ting, Nenzie Lee and Mrs. Thomas showed mov ies and ilides taken during the tal ent show, A feature movie "Little Big Horn," was also shown, Re freshments were served by Mrs. Clarence Young and Mrs. Doug Hart. ' CANYONVILLE CHURCH PLANS HAM DINNER A southern atyle ham dinner to be given at the Methodist church in Canyonville Wednesday evening, April 13, was planned at the last meeting of the Wesleyaji Guild at the home of Mrs. Gone Cherwink near Riddle. The dinner will be served buf fet style by the group who has successfully served many dinners this way. Serving will begin at 6 p.m. 1 The group discussed further join ing the WSCS but voted against the move at this time. Plans were made to paint the churoh kitchen, and bUls incurred for painting the parsonage were allowed. Frl., Apr. 1, 1955 The News-Review, Roseburf, On. SOCIAL OANCE TO BE HELD TONIGHT ' Central Junior High will have a social dance tonight at the school at 8 p.m. Punch will be served. The committee reports this will be the treat of the year for all of the students, who are urged to attend. PARENTS CLUB TO MEET ON MONDAY . The Parents Club of St. Joseph's School will meet Monday in the committee room of the new school it 3 p.m. Baby sitter service will be provided for pre - school children.
