Test Tub Legitimacy
Up For Consideration
SALEM til The complicated
problem of whether test tube
babies should be declared legiti
mate may be considered by the
Oregon Legislature.
Sen. Philip B. Lowry, Medford
lawyer, said he is studying the
question. A court in Chicago
recently ruled that test tube babies
are illegitimate.
Lowry said his proposed legis
lation might declare su?h a child
legitimate if the husband had
agreed to the artificial insemina
tion. Lowry said many doctors are
worried about the problem,
because they often are asked to
perform the, test tube service' for
couples who can't have children.
