10 The News-Rovlew, Rosebura, School Head Speaks i By JEAN RADCLIFFE Sr. Marvin Smith, assistant su perintendent of schools in Rose burg, spoke to the 5th and 6th grade classes at the Deer Creek school recently about Panama aad he other Central American coun tries. Dr. Smith spent seven months in Panama during the war. Several' class members entered a contest in which they dressed dolls in Mexican costume. Prizes were won by Flora McGinnis and Douglas Stone. ... Glendale School Census Complete . By MRS. 6. B. FOX Returns from the Glendale School census are now complete. and according to Supt. James fate have been carefully rechecked for accuracy. The figures Indicate there are 1,030 children in District 77 of an age to be included in the census as compared with 1,016 last year. This figure includes 527 boys and 503 girls. Bonnie McDonald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hershel McDonald, of Glendale, has been severely ill at his home with virus flu. Mrs. Helen Tolley of Glendale is in the Grants Pass Hospital for medical treatment. Mount Burke of Glendale went to the home oi the Ole Living stones in Yreka, Calif., a few days ago.
