LU BIRO CROUP ORGANIZES AT GREEN A group of blue Birds under the leadership of Mrs. Arthur Ma rolf has been organized and met Wednesday at the home of the leader. The girls call themselves the "Cher-Wee' Blue Birds, after the song of the bird. The group has completed the candy sale and is making Christ mas gifts. Members belonging are Chris tine Baxter, Judy Boone, Nancy Deahn, Claire Guse, Linda Marolf, Sharon Trenholm, Glenda Witten and Ronda Sallee. There will be a short program of special music, and a book review on the life of De Shazer, a Japan ese prisoner of war, who is now a missionary to Japan. Mrs. Todd will give a report on missionaries currently leaving for the field. A part of the time will be spent on the discussion of work projects to be carried on during the year. Everyone interested in this work is welcome to attend. This was a birthday cele bration in honor of Pat Humphreys who was the recipient of a lovely gift. ELKTON CHURCH WOMEN HAVE MEETING Women's Christian Fellowshio met at the Elkton Christian Church I Wednesday afternoon. A short business meeting was held after which a box was packed for the Beaverton Old Peoples home. Cake and coffee was served in honor of those members having birthdays in November and December. Four teen adults and five children were present. Highlight of the evening was a very enjoyable talk and demonstration on gift wrapping and Christmas decorations, given by Mrs. Chester Morgan. A short business meeting was held and plans were made for th forthcoming yuletide season. Refeshments were served by the hostess and Mrs. Don Starmer to: Mesdames Tyler Evans, Jim Smith, Joe Scallon, Lyle Quist, Ronald Oilar, Kelsey Hobday, Dick Gadway and Miss Gloria Gaston. BAZAAR AND SALE SUCCESSFUL AFFAIR The Umpqua Home and Foreign Missions held its annual bazaar and rummage sale at the Com munity hall Saturday and were well pleased with the results. Cof fee and pie were served all after noon. The president, Sally Amer son, complimented all those who helped with the work. The money earned will be used for local wel fare and Christmas baskets.
