Miss Joyce Leavot Miss Peg Joyce left today for her home in Santa Barbara, Calif., following a visit in Roseburg with Miss Kay Ward and other friends. She was chief dietician at the Roseburg Veterans Hospital before retiring and moving to Santa Barbara this summer, to reside with her two eistera. .. . Johnsons Back Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Johnson and son, Bob, of Roseburg enjoyed the weekend in Portland visiting relatives and friends. They were accompanied home by Mrs. Johnson's mother, Mrs. W. H. Becker, who has been visiting relatives in Portland the last four months and who will spend the winter here at the John son home. Mrs. Norris manag es and owns the Norris Dress Shop. At Portland State David Syl westes, son of the Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Sylwester of Roseburg, has left for Portland, where he is en rolled at Portland State College. He is working from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily at the Oregon Journal on the office staff in the circulation department, the job previously held for two years by his brother, Jim, who is attending Concordia College in Seward, Nebr. this year. Back From Vacation Post master and Mrs. Clyde W. Car stens and daughter, Miss Jackie, are back at their home in Laurel wood, following a two weeks vaca tion trip to Salt Lake City and to Park City, Utah, birthplace , of Mrs. Carstens, where they visited her relatives. They toured Bryce Canyon, Zion Park, Grand Can yon ana stopped over in i.as ve- gas and Reno, Nev. They also visited Boulder Dam. , Enters Llnfi.ld Galen Cilslcr, son of Mrs. Harvey Crisler, of DixonviUe, has left for McMinn ville to enter Linfield College for his freshman year. Galen re ceived a $600 scholarship to col lege. He is a well-known Rose burg violinist and has played con siderable solo work as well as playing in a quartet and with the Roseburg Symphony. Ho is vio lin student of Miss Naomi Scott of this city. Move Mr. and Mrs. Hary G. Rapp and family, who have been living in lower Garden Valley, have moved to their new home at 443 Ella St. Mr. Rapp is a local monument dealer. Their eldest son, Gene, is a senior in high school and their other children, Boby, Mary Jo, Nancy and Phil ip are attending Benson School, while Stt-year-old Stephen Ira re mains at home with his mother, who is convalescing from a re cent serious major operation.
