Proposed Indian Fishing Camp Draws Protests TOP. The work is being dona with $30,000 Congress provided to com pensate Indians for fishing grounds lost when Bonneville Dam wis built, said Lt, Col. John A. Graf, of the Portland district engineer's office. The project has nothing to do with pending destruction of the Celilo Falls Indian fishery by con struction of The Dalles Dam. M. T. Hoy, state fisheries di rector, said that from the camp site about two miles east of here, Indians will be able to carry on large-scale fishing in the immedi ate area ot Toe Dauet Dam tisn Udders. He said this will injure salmon runs trying to clear the dam. Ward Weber, Wasco County said the county objects on the ground that the camp might become another Indian village, re sulting in social problems that arise when large groups live to gether under substandard condi tions. GEORGE EDES , The yoncalla fire siren has been heard twice in the last week. On July 26 a grass fire at the Harold Rogers home was soon extinguish ed with buckets of water and a garden bose. On Sunday night, the fire siren again warned Hie people of a fire. The borne of Mr.' and Mrs.. Ward McElmurry, west of town, was completely burned. The fire was of unknown origin. The family was at home at the time of the fire, but they were unable to save any thing except the clothing they were wearing. The house was a two-story home and has been built for a number of years.
