Inferurban Service End Asked By Traction Firm SALEM UB Portland Traction Co. applied for permission Wed nesday to abandon its interurban passenger operations b e t w een Portland. Orefion City and Bell rose. . v The company, in filing the appli cation with Public Utilities Com missioner Charles H. Heltzel, asked Heltzel to disregard an ear lier application to reduce its serv ice. Scholarship Won By Roseburg Girl A $175 scholarship was awarded Miss Sonia Lander of Roseburg this week by the Dtst. 11 Board of Directors of the Oregon State Nurses Assn. Miss Lander plans to attend the University of Oregon this fall, where she will major in nursing. . Announcement of the presenta tion, first of its kind by Douglas County nurses, was made by Mrs, Mary Angelo, president of the as sociation.
