Robert was being sent to Lima to sign a contract with the Peruvian government. The contract calls for construe. lion of a 30-mile road 3,200 miles up the Amazon River. In ex change, the institute is to receive one million acres of land. Rolfe and his wife will be lo oated at PucaUpa, Peru, where he will supervise the operations of sawmills and logging. The timber in this area is chiefly mahogany and cedar. The two men state this area is the domain of the renowned bead hunters. A ship carrying supplies is tak' ing enough equipment and sup plies for a stay of approximately two years. The supplies cost over a million dollars. Ten couples have been selected from the LeTourneau Institute to carry off the project. They wHl be flown to Peru for a stay of at least two years and possibly three. Robert Dunbar and family and Roy LeTourneau and family will remain in Lima throughout the stay. Roy LeTourneau is manager of the entire project an will also serve as interpreter. The Dunbars will be stationed about 4.000 miles from their par ents, the Rev. and Mrs. Franklin uunoar, wno are in Uruguay, The two Dunbar families re turned to CanvonvU'e to bid rel atives farewell. Also, David Roy Dunbar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dunbar, was the "center of a dedication service. The Rev. Attends Mearlna James Conn went to Salem Fri day to attend a meeting of the Turkey Improvement Association. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schnieder of Roseburg and his brother, Robert, were among the guests at the home of her prents, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Conn on Thanksgiving Day. Dick Dow, apprentice seaman. was here from Pasadena. Calif. over the holiday weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ken- yon. WINS SCHOLARSHIP A former Camas Valley resi dent, Gilbert Watkins, now a sen ior in Arizona State College at Tempe, Ariz was recently award ed a $300 scholarship by the Mu tual Life Insurance Co. Watkins is a business administration ma jor with an interest in life Insur ance. His wife, the former Lavonne Amstejn, and Watkins are both graduates of Camas Valley High bcnooi. Oakridge Masons Honor Cuy McCee By ' ELVEDA PRESTON Guy McGee was honored by the presentation of a plaque awarded to him for his drawing up the plans for the Oakridge Masonic Temple. The award was made by L. B. Cook, Frank Goin, Wayne Barber and Paul Sims ol the Oakridge Ma sonic Lodge. McGee has a long list of cred its to his name, having drawn the plans for the Masonic temple in Canyonville, South Umpqua Rod and Gun uuDnouse, the soutn Douglas Community building. which was torn down in the relo cation of the highway through Can yonville, the high school gym, the South Douglas Veterans Memorial building at Tri-City and the La bor temple at Roseburg. Plans for all these buildings were donated bv McGee. The third degree of the Masonic lodge was conferred on Tom Rich ardson of Umatilla for the Uma tilla Masonic lodge. Richardson is ao employe of the Hanna nickle mine at Riddle. Tenmile Teeners Sponsor Party Nazarene Church Women Prepare Korean Boxes Women of the Nazarene Foreign Missionary Society will meet at the recreation room of the par sonage Dec. 8 to prepare boxes of warm clothing, shoes and blankets for shjpment to Korea, according to an announcement made by Mrs. Mabel Cox, president.
