Margaret Davie Assists , With Linfield Drama Margaret Davie Rt. 1 Box 265, Roseburg, is assisting with prepar ations for the sixth annual drama clinic at Linfield college, McMinn ville, to be held Saturday, Dec. 12. The clinic will feature a per formance of a three-act play, "The Torchbearers," by Linfield play era. Approximately 200 high school students are expected to attend . the session. Miss Davie is a mem ber of Alpha Psi Omega, national drama honorary, and Cardinal Masque, local drama club on the campus. Lester Schilling, profcs sor of drama, is director of the clinic. . He was treated in the Douglas Community Hospital until Sunday, when his condition became criti cal. He was then taken to Port land for observation and treat ment. His mother. Mrs. Elisabeth Bryce, who makes her home in itfjtnn Dulara with ner son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George McDowell, was called home from Detroit, Mich., where sne naa gone recently lor an ex tended visit with her sons and daughters. Bryce's son, Russell Bryce. who is in the Armed Serv ice serving in Europe was sent for and is expected to arrive at nis lather s bedside any day. Has Housaguatt- - Mrs. G. C. Mead of Eugene was the houseguest of Mr. and Mrs. 0. D. McAllister last week. Mr. and Mrs. McAllister drove her back to Eugene Friday to spend the weekend and attend the play ing of "The Robe." Mrs. Carl Mutschler and son-in- law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Marshall, and baby accom panied Mr. Harvey Duke and chil dren, Louise and Willard, to Port land Saturday to visit Mrs. Duke who has been in the Good Samari tan Hospital for medical treat ment for several weeks. Mrs. Duke is now reported to be responding to treatment and is out of the nospitai and living with her moth er, Mrs. Delta White, near the hospital where she returns fre. quently for treatment. Mrs. Duke was rushed to Port land on Aug. 27th in a critical con dition. Alter treatment and obser vation she underwent an operation for a brain tumor 'on Sept. 3. Owens, who has for several years been associated with C. E. Moyer in the nursery business, is now building up a large nursery of his own. Mrs. Fred Burks underwent vas cular surgery Wednesday in a Portland hospital. At the Dillard Methodist Church Sunday at 11 a.m. the Rev. B. A. Feenstra will give the Thanksgiv ing message from the text, "He prepared A Table Before Me." There will be installation of the officers , of the Methodist Youth Fellowship for the next year and also a reception of new members. The choir, under the leadership of Paul Dodd, will present special music.
