Winner Of Safe Driving Award Daughter Of Ciendale Couple By 0. B. FOX Mrs. Vern Molver, who won i 33-week safe-driving award in Koseburg recently, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Powelson of Glendale. She was pictured in Saturday's News-Review with her three children, Mike, 5, Linda, 2 and Carol Ann, 3, accepting two $25 war bonds, which were part of her award. In addition to the two war bonds she received an innerspring mattress; a box of candy, six glasses, five gallons of gas, and a lubrication and wax job for her car. Peace Officers Warned To Begin Law Cleanup SPRINGFIELD Members of the Lane County Peace Officers Association were warned Tuesday night by the sheriff that they had better do something about punch- Boards ana pintjau macmnes mat pay off. Otherwise, said Sheriff Ed Elder, his office will move against these illegal devices. Later he told a reporter that punchboards and payoff pinball machines have been springing up regularly all over the county. Elder said the Lane County situation is much worse than that in Benton or Linn counties. SHOOTING FAIR CORVALLIS 11 Shooting was only fair in the recent controlled Adair deer hunt. Refreshments will be in charge of Mrs. Louis Anderson and Mrs. .Don Salchen-berg. Dillard Air Force Veteran Returns After Visit With Buddies In Texas By ROSA HEINBACH S. Sgt. Paul Ronald Holteen re turned home to Dillard Wednes day after being discharged from the Air Force after four years service. Holteen enlisted in 1948 and took his basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas. He was then transferred to Travis AFB in California- where he became an athletic specialist and supervisor. He also took special training as a machinist. Following his dis charge he returned to Texas for a month visit with old friends. Hol teen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clel Holteen. Return From Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hutton and daughters, Lesli Ann and Deb ra returned Saturday from a two weeks vacation in Payette and Boise, Ida.- In Payette they were guests of Mrs. Hutton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Parr. They visited her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parr in Nyssa, Ore., and her uncle, Harry Parr, who is vey ill in the Veterans Hospital in Boise. Mr. and Mrs. James Rickie and son Bruce returned recently from Yuba City, Calif., where they spent a week visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harrington purchased a new home on Carey Street, and moved into it over the past week.
