The U.S. Weather Bureau's five-, day forecast is for recurring fains totaling about an inch generally ' over Western Washington and Ore gon but mounting to as much as 2 or 3 inches along the coast and on the western mountain slopes. TSa forecaster explained that "a ' low pressure is hanging a short way off the coast, close enough ' that it resulted in rain west of the mountains Tuesday morning. It is a slow moving "trough", so that its effects are expected to hang for several days. It runs gen erally parallel to the coast and southward to California. , ? The forecaster said the prospect Is for a series of individual rain storms. For cast of the Cascades, the forecast is for rain late Wednes day or Thursday, continuing inter mittently through Saturday, Snow Is likely at higher elevations. Temperatures are expected to continue above normal, Waco Building Back After Tornado Six Months Ago U.' For six months ago today a tor nado knocked Waco out of business in one terrible minute. It killed 114 persons, iniurcd some 500 and left this central Texts city with a loss of nearly 60 million dollars. Downtown was a ruin, the lower end a tomb of broken brick and stone. For four days - and nights in Waco, thousands tore into giant mounos 01 wreckage witn bare hands and machines, seeing the dead and the living. But that was six months ago. Now, in downtown Waoo, bright new store ironts nave replaced the iasrged mass of class: neon liehts twinkle brightly where six months ago only lanterns winked. Farther uptown, more rebuilding is going on. "The tornado hurt," said Manor Ralph Wolf. "It hurt bad. But the loss of life was the greatest hurt. The men, and their last known addresses, are: Charles Murray Roberts, general delivery, Coos Bay; Albert Leo Willis, Box 175, Umatilla; Walter Amundson, 1412 Pearl Street, Eu gene; Wallace Glenn Taylor, 745 N. Russell St., Portland, and Rob ert Grimes Carlton, 104 S. E. Grand, Portland. The money is paid by the federal War Claims Commission. 1 These prisoner of war payments have been given to 1,680 Oregon veterans and total $993,400. TV Application Is Reinstated WASHINGTON (fl An applica tion of Gorden Allen for a new radio station at Springfield, Ore., has been reinstated by the Com munications Commission. He applied last June for a sta tion on 1240 kilocycles, 250 watts power, unlimited time. Later his application was inadvertently dis missed by the commission, a com mission spokesman said. Monday he reapplied for the same facil ities'. In another action, the commis sion said it did not know when a license usually is Issued after a radio station KUGN, Eugene, Ore., to use 5,000 watts power In Its daytime broadcasts. The station was granted a'construction permit last May to change its power from 1,000 watts day and night to 5,000 watts day jnd 1,000 watts night. A commission spokesman said a license usually is ussued after a station has completed its construc tion and tests. The station now, is making its tests.
