Miller, pas tor of the church, will preach in his place for two or three days until Rev. Millard is able to re sume the meetings himself. Rev. Miller's daughter, Sue, has also been ill with flu. Bob Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Phillips of Quines Creek, has been ill for several days. Bill Lewallen, who was Injured in a woods accident Saturday, Nnv. 29, is reported making good pro gress in the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene. He was allowed to lit up for a short time. Monday. Members and friends of the Sev enth Day Adventist Church in Glendale held a social Saturday evening Nov. 29, in the Union Hall. FOX The Wolf Creek PTA presented a play, "How the Story Grew," at the' Glendale IOOF Hall Tuesday night at the joint meeting of the Rebekah and IOOF lodges. Some of the players were ill, so two lad ies from the Azalea Grange, Mrs. Hazel McPherran and Mrs. Ray Rife, took their places. There was a big crowd, and the cake, jello. and coffee, which were served for refreshments, were excellent. The ladies, who put on the nlav. "consolation," at the recent Har vest Night meeting of the Azalea Grange, have had three invitations to present the play for other groups, one from the Wolf Creek PTA, and two from other Grange groups. Leader Visits Bill Star of Portland, who Is head of the Young Life movement in mat city, was guest speaker last Sunday at the Olivet Presbyterian Church in Glendale. He explained what the movement is and how it works to evangelize young people not easily reached by Youth For Christ or regular church services. In the evening, he held a meeting with young people of the Presby terian Church and guests from other churches in the city, discus sing with them the plan and how it may best be worked. The Presbyterian Women's Cir cle met Friday at the J. K. How ard home for a special program. To Speak Sunday In the absence of their pastor. Rev. Good, who attends school in Eugene, the Glendale Church of Christ has asked Rev. G. B, Fox to bring the morning message next Sunday. Several members of the Glen dale Seventh Day Adventist Church attended the Associated Mission ary Volunteer meetings in Med ford Dec. 6. This past week was "Week of Prayer" for the Seventh Day Ad ventist Church in Glendale. Read ings were held at the homes of George Standage, Cow Creek; Dr. Howard Ferguson, Glendale, and Louis Brungton of Glendale. Salt Held .. Stonehocker entertained a group of Mrs. Stone hocker's associates at the Airport Cafe at a dinner party at their home recently. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Bert Springstead. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Lathrop and Mr. and Mrs. David Hardekopi. Mrs. Laura Yocum is reported to be recovering from recent sur gery at Emmanuel Hospital in Portland. She hopes to be back in Canyonville by Christmas. Visit In California Mr. and Mrs. Don Putnam and children visited Mr. and Mrs. P. 0. Walker at Taft, Calif., over Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. J. B Stonehocker were unable to be with their daughters, as originally planned. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kellar had Mr. and Mrs. Clem Tavennger and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Winkler as Thanksgiving dinner guests. The Herbert Mill was closed down until Wednesday, Dec. 10, while men from the Calvert Ma chine Shop of Boring repaired the carriage. ' Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Daven port left last week for Portland where they planned to meet Mrs. Davenports sister, Mrs. George Brander, and family,, who were to arrive by train from South Da kota. The Branders plan to visit Mrs. Brander's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Mycr over tho holi days. Mrs. King Released Mrs. Viola King, who was In jured in an auto accident at Ford's Bridge recently, has been dismiss ed from Myrtle Creek Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Ross and son, Bruce, spent the weekend at the coast. They reported stormy weather and choppy water. Clyde Campbell underwent sur gery at Forest Glen Hospital in Canyonville recently. Mrs. Clar ence Tison and Jerry Covey, on leave from the U.S. Army, were listed as medical patients at the hospital reccently. The grade school will present the program, and Santa will be there for the festivities. Mrs. Stuart Williams and Mrs. Byrd spent Friday at Medford on business and shopping. William Badger, who has been ill, is now reported convalescing satisfactorily at hiis home. Residents awoke Saturday morn ing to find die ground covored with about two inches of snow. The regular meeting of the Tiller-Drew PTA was held in the gym Tuesday evening. String music was enjoyed and treats of candy and cake were presented to those in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Saulsberry and family are leaving this week for Gallup, N.M., to spend the Christmas holidays with relatives.
