TILLICUM BRIDGE CLUB MIETS AT SLACK HOMB Yellow and pink chrysanthe mums were used in bouquets about the rooms Tuesday, when Mrs. Brlttain Slack, assisted by Mrs. Fred Brauninger, entertained the Tillieum Bridge Club at a one o'clock salad luncheon at her home on East Fourth Avenue. Covers were placed for: Mrs. C. J. Bielman, Mrs. Claude Har vey, Mrs. Marvin Steinbach, Mrs. Edward Lamoreaux, Mrs. Harry Barker, Mrs. Jotn Chase, Mrs. Albert Karcher, Mrs. Howard Wahl, Mrs. Fred Waugh, Mrs. Cecil Carr, Mrs. Clifford Flory, Mrs. Alva Mnning and the hostess, Mrs. Slack. Contract bridge .was in play with Mrs. Barker, winning high score; Mrs. Manning, low score, and Mrs. Chase the traveling goose. The next meeting of the club will be held Tuesday. Dec. 2, at the home of Mrs. Fred Waugh. AMARANTH CLUB MEETS FOR POT-LUCK SUPPER The Amaranth Social Club met at the Masonic Building recently for a regular business session and a pot-luck supper. Visiting and card playing followed. DILLARD PTA TO MEET IN SCHOOL AUDITORIUM The Dillard Parent-Teachers As sociation will meet Friday nignt, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. in the Dillard school auditorium. The fourth grade room mothers, Mrs. Dora Mae Moore, Mrs. Jean Nichols and Mrs. Pauline Lander will serve refresh ments at the close of the meeting. The program chairman, Mrs. Fred Albertus announced the en chorus, under the direction of Mrs. tire fourth grade, also the boys Irene McLaughlin will sing. Miss Muriel Mitchell, Roseburg city librarian, will give a talk. The of ficers, chairmen and room moth ers are requested to meet at 7 p.m. preceeding the PTA meet ing to make plans for the Christ mas activities. Jackson St. SUTHERLIN SQUARE DANCERS HAVE ENJOYABLE TIME "Wagon Wheels" square danc ing club held a very enjoyable dancing party Saturday evening at the American Legion Memorial Hall in Sutherlin, with a very large crowd in attendance. New members admitted to the club were, Miss Lee Furgcson, Mr. and Mrs. Sharp of Roseburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dyson, of Sutherlin. The group is invited to be guests of the Trail Riders Saluday eve ning. Nov. 23. at a potluck din ner and dance to be held at the American Legion Memorial Hall. Schottish. waltzes, and several new squares were learned during tne evening. SUTHERLIN WOMEN'S CLUB MEET AT LEGION HALL The Associated Business Women's Club of Sutherlin, met Monday evening, Nov. 17, at the American Legion Memorial Hall, with Mrs. Olga Bielman, Mrs. Dorcas Hoag land, Mrs. Dolores Jackson and Mrs. Denna Bennett as hostesses. Beautiful bouquets of late fall flow ers formed pretty centerpieces for the tables. The business meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Donna Dean Blakeley. Several mat ters of business were discussed at length.' The nominating committee re ported that there was only one Jierson for each office and the fol owing were elected as officers for the year 1953: Mrs. Olga Bielman, president; Mrs. Doris Steinbach, vice-president; Mrs. Betty Haines, secretary; Mrs. Lucille Chriss, treasurer; Mrs. Ada McCall, trustee for two years and Mrs. Nina Smih, trustee for three years. It was decided to have a Christ mas party at the next meeting, Dec. 15, with an exchange of gifts. This will be held at the home of Mrs. Juanita Atterbury with Mrs. Doris Steinbach, Mrs. Freda Payn ter, Mrs. Mabel McCord and Mrs. Ruth Pichette as hostesses. William Bolman, city manager of Sutherlin, guest speaker gave a very interesting talk on the outline of the various projects being done about the city on roads, water sys tem, and what they hoped to do in the near future. Mrs. Marian Buchanan, won the door prize. At the close of the meeting the hostesses, Mrs. Bielman, Mrs. Hoatland, Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Bennett served refreshments to the Mesdames Donna Dean Blake ley, Marian Buchanan, Lucille Chase, Lucille, Chriss, Betty Cor rell. Maude Culver, Ivena Halvor sen, Ora Irwin, Ruth Niccolazzi, Merirleth. Pond, Connie Smith, Lochie Thompson, Doris Steinbach, Grace Wilson, Mabel McCord, Fre da Paynter, and Miss Luella Pleu-ard. Mrs. Phyllis Halvorsen was gra cious hostess to her canasta club Tuesday, at her lovely home on East Sixth Avenue, at a one-thirty o'clock salad-luncheon. Late fall flowers formed pretty bouquets about the rooms. Covers were placed for the Mes dames Beverly Baird, Margaret Brookey. Betty Gillman, Dorothy Baird, Vera Holm, Letha Barnes, Amie Eggleston, Lucille Chriss, Mabel McCord, Marian Magness, Madeline Hansen and the hostess, Mrs. Halvorsen. Mrs. Beverly Baird was honored with a pink nd blue shower and re ceived many nice gifts from the group. Canasta was in play with Mrs. Brookey and Mrs. Hansen, winning high scores; Mrs. B. Baird and Mrs Gillman, the low scores. The next meeting of the club will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the home of Mrs. Vera Holm. GREEN PTA ENTERTAINED BY BARBERSHOP QUARTET Th "Postal Notes" Barbershop Quartet from Roseburg entertain ed the Green PTA at its Novem-: ber meeting Friday evening. Their selections were immensely enjoy-1 ed by the audience. - The busness meeting was pre sided over by Mrs. Dorothy Wil-1 liams, vice president. The mem-; bcrship voted to change the meet ing night from the first Friday to the second Monday evening of each month The next PTA meeting will be Dec. 8. Mrs. Carol Tout, school board clerk, presented the Green PTA, j through Mrs. Lois Miller, mem bership chairman, a check for $100 for taking the school census.
