Census Completed The final count on the census of School District 8 totaled 441. ac cording to Mrs. Joyce Norman clerk of the district who took the census. Of the total, 203 were girls, and 238 boys. Canyonville school youngsters had an unexpected opportunity to enjoy the sunshine Monday. School was closed because of a defective boiler. Repairs allowed the school to open Tuesday. Larry Neis, 15-month-old son of Mr. ana Mrs. Leon Neis fell from his high chair Wednesday. The fall split the child's gums on both sides of his lower teeth, and cut his chin which required stjtches. His mother picked the bov un and ran the block from the Neis home to Forest Glen Hospital where his injuries were reported not serious. The faculty of the Canvonville Bible Academy sponsored a ban quet the evening of Nov. 11 to honor 16 students who attained the honor roll and honor society. Tom fclwooa ot Koseburg had the high est score of the six weeks period The dinner was served buffet style and decorations carried the fall theme. Mrs. Claude Groth presented several musical selections at the banquet and then joined Mrs. Rob ert Schaeffer in a piano duet. John Billings presented a vocal solo. Mrs. Alice Haymes presented tne nonor society charter. Mr. Claude Groth, principal of the academy spoke briefly about 'Honor in School" and Kenneth Tidd gave the main speech en titled, "Honor in Everyday Liv ing." Recovering From Fall Britt Claxton, two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Claxton, who fell from a moving automo bile about 10 days ago, is reported to be getting along fine. The boy was taken to Eugene where a thorough examination revealed no serious injury. Mrs, John Condon of Fresno, Calif., is visiting her daughter, Mis. Pearl Kemp. Police Chief Ted Nimmo Is back on the job after a week's leave. ' Mr. and Mrs. Don Putnam went to Eugene over the weekend for removal of a cast from Mrs. Put nam's leg at Sacred Heart Hos pital. Mrs. Putnam was injured in an auto accident in California a year ago in July and has worn the leg cast since. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ferguson and children spent the weekend in Grants Pass visiting Mr. Fergu son's sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Waterman. Stonehocker spent Friday in Medford on a com bined business and pleasure trip. An impressive "singspiration" program was presented at Can yonville Bible Academy Sunday afternoon. Miss Mildred Mathison of Cali fornia is visiting the Bible Acad emy this week. Mr. and Mrs. Loson Winn were dinner guests- of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Haymes Saturday evening. Mrs. Paul Reed of Eugene and Mrs. Ethel Manning of Springfield spent two davs visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Rimmell. George Blomgren, Leonard Clif ton George Brinkworth, and Nor man Chappell spent a weekend duck hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Oldham of Eugene visited Mr. and Mrs. Mil ton Herbert Sunday. Mrs. Oldham and Mrs. Herbert are sisters. 'Mrs. Philip Claxton and Judy Prevost were listed as medical patients at Forest Glen Hospital this week. Mrs. Mary Murray of Santa Cruz is remaining for a visit with her niece, Miss Mary Berry. Mrs. Murray was here to attend funer al services for her sister, Mrs. Molly Berry. Mrs. George Binder and Mrs. Guy Musser are buying spring goods for Binder's Clothing Store this week. They are attending the spring market week in Portland. RADIO PROGRAMS ICRNR 1490 Ice. 1240 kc. KRXL Calapooia Farm Bureau Member Drive Successful By MRS. BRITTAIN SLACK A good attendance was report ed when the Calapooia Farm Bu reau held their Tuesday evening meeting at the Calapooia Club House, with 29 members and sev en guests present. The meeting was called to order by the chairman, Cal Hunter, who appointed Lloyd Sconce, as live stock chairman. The next meeting will be held on December 9, at 7:30 p.m. instead of 8. Meetings will begin earlier during the winter. Maude Cole, Associated Women's chairman, asked each member to bring a guest to the next meeting and also to bring sandwiches or cookies. . . The membership drive, which was in charge of Guy Cole, was reported successful, a . number of new members being secured. Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Goff, By ron Goff and children, were guests. Byron displayed Christmas cards, wrappings and ribbons, and secured a number of orders. He will be at the December meeting and will have a number of extra boxes for those wishing them. Bob Monett, Harold Cole and Harold Crouch, assisted by Cal Hunter, Philhp Knapple, Jr. Steph ens, Ralston Cole, hauled wood for the Club House last week. Mrs. George . Wilcox, assisted by three 4-H members, Jean Wil cox, Barbara Cole and Charlene Moore, served refreshments.
