Flying Saucer Solution Sought ' Via Vacuum Bell WASHINGTON litf The Eve ning Star reported Wednesday that Army Engineers,, working with a vacuum bell in a laboratory, have produced atmospheric phenomena which may explain the widespread reports of "flying saucers." In a copyrighted story by W. H. Shippen, the Star said the experi ments created airborne objects which "can speed up. hover inde finitely, or disappear and reappear in a nasn. It added: "The man-made saucers" occa sionally fly in formation. More over, they are believed to have sustance enough to show up on the screen of a radar designed to track i i them." The hearing was called by Frank McKennon, chief of the division of plant industry of the Oregon State Department of Agriculture. He ex plained that his department had re ceived many complaints about the nurseryman, Jack Hurd, who does business as Riverside Gardens, Os wego, and as Luke Hopman, Gar den Home. McKennon said the complaints involved substitution of stock on nursery orders, inferior stock, slow mailing of stock or failure to fill orders and failure to respond to complaints. OSC Students Advised To Make Housing Plant OREGON STATE COLLEGE College is still a calendar page away but Oregon State college stu dents were advised this week to be thinking about housing arrange ments. On the campus, adequate dorm itory space is assured for all singlet men and women wishing to live in the residence halls, according to Robert C. Koehier, director of dor mitories. Campus housing for mar ried couples is all taken, but pros pects for off-campus housing in pri vate homes and apartment houses are "excellent." Some single rooms are still avail able for both men and women in the dorms. Board fees remain ex actly the same as last year 147 per month in all halls and room rentals are the same with one ex ception. In Central hall for men. the room rent has been increased from $45 to $50 per term. Rent per term in the main dorm for MEN AND Waldo hall for women is $53; in Sackett hall for women, $ per term. .
