Jackson Ph. 3-7348 Inspector Cites Bee Regulations It is unlawful to move bees with out a permit, and further, bee owners cannot buy bees or s"H them unless they'hfi'e been in spected and registered. This fact was called to the at tcntirm of local bee owners by Roswell H. Graves, who was re cently appointed to the position of county bee inspector. The in spector is employed by the state. Graves, who lives at Route 1, Box 429, Sutherlin, has just com pleted a three-week course on bee inspection. He has had consider able experience, having handled bees himself the last 12 years. Douglas County has not had an inspector for more than a year. Previous to that time there wis no inspector for about, 15 years. While the state law has been in effect for some time relative to permits for moving of bees and re quirement for inspection and reg istration, there has been little en forcement during recent years, ac cording to Graves. Auto Driver Killed In Crash With Truck CONDON OH A head-on col lision between a truck and a car near here Monday night killed Richard J. Greiner, the car driver. Greiner, 52, a Gilliam County rancher, was alone in the car. The truck driver. Dick Reed, and a passenger Billy Smith, 5, both of Condon, were not injured. Alleged Axe Murderer Held For Grand Jury SALEM W Albert William Karnes, charged with the ax mur der of Mrs. Susan Litchfield, 82, waived preliminary hearing in dis trict court here Monday and was bound over to the grand jury. Karnes was brought to court from the penitentiary, where he was sent last week from The Dalles to serve 15 years for assaulting and robbing a woman in her home. The first degree murder warrant was served on Karnes wh;n he appeared in court Monday. FBI Has Found 19,000 Delinquents On Draft WASHINGTON Of-The FBI said Tuesday it has located more than 19.000 draft delinquents since the peacetime Selective Service law went Into effect. The data was made public by director J. Edgar Hoover on the fourth anniversary of the law. Of the men located, Hoover said. 3,301 were actually fugitives, and prosecutions have resulted in 554 convictions. Hoover stressed that the Bureau's chief interest in such investigations ii to make the draft delinquent available for military service. He said those prosecuted represent only the most willful violators. Some 11.929 rases of indicated draft-evasion were awaiting inves ligation at the beginning of this month, the report said. Repetition Of Song Drives Man To Suicide COOS BAY , Ore. W "If that song is played again, I'm going to jump out the window," said James Lee Moffatt, 25, a mill worker, at a resort north of here Sunday night. The jukebox song was "Blue Monday," which someone promptly played again. Moffatt jumped, splashing into the waters of a lake 20 feet below.
