EMPHASIZING THEIR CHALLENGE to Ashland's Whiskerinos in a beard growing con
test this fall, three Douglas County Centennial Whiskalantes invaded Ashland last Satur
day to seek out -"peach fuzz" growers from the city of famed Lithia water. "Peach fuzz"
was all they fourd, declared Stewart Stephens, local whisker contest chairman. They
sought out Bob O'Hara, Ashland whisker chairman, on a golf course and arranged a meet
ing that night at the Red Bam dance holl. But O'Hara failed to appear, calling and giving
needed attention to sick wife as the reason, said Stephens. Nevertheless the Roseburg trio,
above, including Ed Waldron, center, and Bob Willhite, right, proceeded to make them
selves very much in evidence at the Red Barn, and took port in a floor show . ( Picture by
