State Bar Acts Against Laymen In Lawyer Role The Board of Governors of the Oregon Slate Bar says the obtain ing of a permanent injunction against a Portland business man is but one of a series in its cam paign to protect the public from dangers and attempts by laymen to practice law. Circuit Judge Forrest L. Hub bard of Baker, sitting in the Mult nomah County Circuit Court, re cently issued a permanent injunc tion against C. D. Hageman, who operates a business called a serv ice bureau in the Grand Central Market. Paul E. Geddes, Roseburg, president of the Oregon State Bar, said this is the second in a series of suits of this type. Many complaints by the public have been received, he said, in dicating 'that laymen have been attempting to perform legal serv ices to the detriment of the public. To protect the public from hav ing their wills or business trans actions such ai properly sales de clared invalid, the Board said court restraining orders will be sought whenever laymen are found attempting to practice law.
