Practically all the parts are revamped and redesigned Studebaker products. The frame is seamless tubing, electrically welded and reinforced. The front oxle is of rigid type, the torsion bars are spec ially designed for quick adjustment of front wheel alignment, the sway bars are free float ing to insure flexibility of the car on turns, and the wheel base can be changed Instantly for track or road. All ideas are original in design by Crrtsthwaire with a few words of advice now and then from his employer, Vernon Keel. The vehicle has taken him eight months spore time to complete. ' The Russian subs are the main potentiai threat to the-'forces of Vice Adm. Robert P. Briscoe. He is optimistic about handling them, or anything else that might oppose his fleet, He said it is quite likely - the. Reds are utilizing the Chinese coast to build submarine pens but he pointed out that waters all along this coast generally ace shallow and favor the hunter rather than the hunted in submarine warfare. Briscoe said it is porsiSIo the Communists are constructing con crete reinforced submarine shelters at Port Arthur, Dairen, Tsingtao, or even on the island of Sakhalin, which would give them quick ac cess to Allied shinning routes.
