f Armed Forces Day Celebrated
Z WASHINGTON (-The nation's
military power is on parade
throughout the land Saturday in
celebration of . the third annual
Armed Forces Day.
The display of America's grow
ing might has been limited, how
"ever, to men, machines and craft
-that can move on the ground or
anchor In harbors. All aircraft
.have been grounded by the oli
strike.
For most citizens the day means
. a visit to one of 430 military posts,
Btations, camps or bases which
have declared open house, or to
3,000 National Guard armories
which have prepared military dis
plays and exhibits.
Other thousands are hearing
several hundred speeches being de
livered by top civilian and military
leaders. ' v
Many animals and plants have
the ability to exist in varied form,
for example the free-swimming
young and attached, shelled forms
of the oyster or the egg-worm-pupa-winged
sequence of many insects.
