"The Importance of the account number lies in the fact that wages can only be credited through the use of the account number. Since the money recorded in a person's social security account is used to figure benefits, the more money credited in the account the higher the benefits. "Thus, he explained, "if for any reason wages are reported with out an account number or with an incorrect number, then these wages may not be credited to the account. Not only may future ben efits be smaller because of this, but in some cases no benefits may be payable at all." He urged cardholders to protect the card, keep it on thoir persons at all times show it to employers when necessary and to contact the Eugene Social Security office if in need of assistance. Tenmile Wife Leaves Hospital By JULIA BREITENBUCHER Mrs. Clair Coats returned to her home Sunday from the Commun ity Hospital where she had under gone major surgery. She is report ed to be getting along satisfactor ily. Her daughter, Lorena, has jbeen confined to bed with a bad cold. Mrs. Ralph Howard returned home from the Community Hos pital Wednesday where she had I been receiving medical treatment. She is reported to be improving. Charley Siegel has been confin jed to his home with a very bad jcold. He went to the doctor Thurs day for treatment. He was t0 be I on the Election Board but was un able to attend. Forrest Hill, pastor 'of the Roseburg Church of the Naz arene, was elected chairman of the Western Oregon District Church School Board at the clos ing session of the District Assem bly at Salem, May 16. As one of 11 delegates to the regional conference, held from May 12 to 16, the Rev. Mr. Hill was also selected as delegate to the General Church School Confer ence at Kansas City, Mo., on June 19 and 20. Lewis Suiter, another Roseburg district delegate, was chosen- to attend the General Young People's Convention at Kansas City, also in June. Eight other Roseburg represen tatives at the Salem meet included Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Paul Weaver, Mrs. George Honstead, Mrs. Joe Suit er Sr., Mrs. Joe Suiter, Jr., Mrs. I.ee Marsh, Roy Cox and Mr. and Rev. Mrs. J. M. Cox. Dennese Marie Koepka Succumbs At Roseburg Dennese Marie Koehke, Infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Koepke, Roseburg, died May 17 She was born April 19, 1952 in Roseburg. Surviving besides her parents are her grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. John Koepke, Roseburg; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Carew, Roseburg, and her great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carew, Roseburg. Funeral graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 20, at 2 p.m. In the Masonic Cemetery. The Roseburg Funeral Home Is in charge of the arrangements. ROSE Reception Friday At Rose School The annual reception for par ents of children entering Rose School first grade in the fall will be held Friday, May 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. Both parents are welcome, how ever, mothers are especially ask ed to attend. E, S. Mrs. Dorothy Kitchln, school nurse, will tell what information U necessary when -the children go to pre-school clinic before they can enter the first grade. This year the clinic will be held at Riverside School Aug. 21 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Speakers from the State Educational Department will give brief talks. Following the program, refresh ments will be served and parents and children will be given an op portunity to visit the classrooms. Youth Forfeits Boil For Reckless Driving Police Judge Ira B. Riddle to day ordered $50 bail of 19-year-old Bill Gene Freeman, Roseburg Ho tel, forfeited on charges of reck less driving Sunday in Umpqua Park. Roseburg Police Chief Ted Ma zac reported he spotted Freeman driving through the park in a reck less manner during a picnic. The police chief said gravel was kicked up by the car wheels and en dangered picnickers. Since the park is city property, the chief, who was attending the picnic, arrested the youth.
