Mrs. Da,herty had charge of the decorations. The treasurer, Mrs. Ralph Latham, re ported last month, the society col lected $180.15 from various sources. Society voted to give $5 to the cancer fund. The following new officer we elected for the coming year: Presi dent, Mrs. Elmer Currier: vice president, Mrs. Ilean Pontius; spiritual life, Mrs. Dare Kingery; literature and oublicatinns, Mrs. Guy Day; supply work, Mrs. Nobel Snider; status of Women, Mrs. Jean Cowan; recording secretary, Mrs. Lydia Emery; treasurer, Mrs. J. INTERMEDIATE GIRL SCOUT TROOP HAS MEET The Intermediate Girl Scout Troop met Thursday after school for a meeting with their leaders, Mrs. Lola Rose and Mrs. Mar gorie Denley. A lesson on child care was stud ied. They used dolls as babies and bathed, clothed and learned the principal care of a child. A cookie sale will be held May 16 and 17 to raise funds so that the girls can attend Scout Camp. Girls present were: Sandra Flory, Peggy Jean Austin, Ardra Matney, Judy Rose, Judy Jepson, Cheryl Vandenberg, Dona Gwyn, Jo Doreen Stenson, Ellen Wahl, Jean Kern, Sherron Longlon. LAZY DAISY CLUB HAS REGULAR MEETING MAY 1 The Lazy Daisy Club held a reg ular meeting at the home of Mrs. Arnold Hansen May 1. Prizes were won by Mrs. Marvin De Vore and Mrs. Wally Menetyn. Members present were Mrs. Marvin DeVore, Mr. L. W. Pit tam. Mrs. Jerry Hagan, Mrs. M. C. Smith, Mrs. A. F. Jack West of the Roseburg Art Association attended the annual meeting of the Oregon Art Alliance at the Portland Art Mu seum Saturday, May 3. Associations throughout the state were represented and each Associ ation had a three-minute talk on the program. Mrs. Ford gave the talk for the Roseburg Art Associ ation. Thomas C. Colt, director of the Portland Art Museum, reported that 27 pictures of the Ren aissance were given to the state museum by the Kress Foundation. He. showed pictures and slides and talked on the Renaissance period. Luncheon was served in the Hirsch gallery, after which the group inspected the collection of exhibitors, which included the ar tists of Oregon exhibit. I YONCALLA GRADE SCHOOL HOLDS MAY DAY FETE A large crowd gathered at the Yoncalla Grade School Friday, May 2 for the annual May Day program and picnic. The different room put on skits, songs and drills, after which the picnic lunch, served under the large tree in the school yard, was enjoyed. A parade, consisting of beauti fully docorated bicycles and wag ons proceeded the program. TENMILE COMMUNITY CLUB TO HAVE WORK DAY A work day will be held Satur day, May 10, at the Tenmile Com munity Building beginning at ft a.m. daylight savings time. All men of the community are urged to assist in putting the shingles on the building and are requested to bring hammers. A potluck . luncheon will be served at noon.
