PASS CREEK EXTENSION UNIT HAS MEETING Pass Creek Extension Unit met with Mrs. Wilma Stigers April 23 for the regular meeting. Mrs. Opal Nelson gave the project demon stration on "Accessories for the Home." Officers were elected for next year as follows: chairman, Opal Nelson; vice chairman', Genevieve Gordineer; and secretary, Naomi Jacob. The next meeting will be the de layed meeting on "Draperies." It will be an all-day meeting with a sack lunch, at the home of Gene vieve Gordineer, May 14. ROSEBURG CHAPTER No. I OES PLANS MOM'S MEET Roseburg Chapter No. 8, Order of the Eastern Star wil hold its an--I Mothers' Night Thursday evening, May 1, at 8 o'clock. A short meeting will be held with Mrs. George Churchill, Wor thy Matron, presiding. A fine pro gram will , be provided by mem bers of the Daughters of Job hon oring all Mothers present. They will repaet the lovely drill they presented reffently at Grand Ses sion held in Roseburg so that mem bers unable to see the drill then may have an oportunity to do so Thursday. APVMTISED IN nii 229 NORTH JACKSON mil PAIR OAKS GRANGE HAS POTLUCK AND PROGRAM AT RECENT MEETING Fair Oaks Grange met Tuesday evening at the Fair Oaks Hall for a bountiful potluck seven o'clock dinner and business meeting with Mrs. Jean Smith, Mrs. Jeanette Loerts, Mrs. Maggie Francis, Mrs. Dorothy Norton and Mrs. Ann Se cord, acting as hostesses. After the dinner the Sutherlin Mother Singers, consisting of Dor othy Austin, Nancy Diedrich, Eve lyn Frotscher, Mabel Deahl, Bev erly Nordquist, Jessie Riddlebar ger, June Hutchins, Betty Pleut and Ema Man, performed with Mrs. M. A. Whitenburg, at the piano, and directed by T. Ha ban. The group sang: "Old Fashioned Garden," "Tea For Two," "I Love A Parade" and "Tales from VI ena Woods." Quartet: 'Short'nin Bread," 'Mississippi" and "Country Gar den." Trumpet solos by Mr. Haban: "Mona Lisa" and "Charmaine." Kitchen Band: "Little Brown Jug" and 'Maggie," 'In the Mood,", which was enacted by Mrs. Riddlebarger. The song 'Mag gie," was dedicated to Mrs. Mag gie Francis. The business meeting was opened by the master, Harojd Potts, and various matters of business were discussed. Mr. and Mrs. Davies and Larry Thornton were given the Grange degrees. A book was presented to Mr. Potts from the Grange members. He and his family are moving to Coquile to make their home. Lee Wiliams was elected mas ter for the balance of the year to fil the vacancy left by the resig nation of Harold Potts. Mrs. Ann Secord was elected assistant ov erseer. The next regular meeting will be hcid May 13, with Ann Secord and Dorothy Norton as hostesses. Those enjoying the diner, pro gram and meeting were: Mr. nd Mrs. Harold Potts and son; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brauninger, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Smith, Bill, Don nie and Marta Lou; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thornton and Larry; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Thornton, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Secord, Mrs. Jennie Har rison, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Williams, Miss Barbara Brauninger, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Frotscher and Evelyn; Mr. and Mrs. Ardel Loerts and children; Miss Luella Pleuard, Mrs. Nellie Peterson, Mrs. Harry Norton, Nick and Carmel; Mrs. Maggie Francis and Mr. and Mrs. Davies and the Sutherlin Mother Singers. they have planned other numbers. WSCS OF SUTHERLIN METHODIST CHURCH MEET Lilacs, tulips and dutch Iris were used as the table decorations Thursday when the Women's So ciety of Christian Service of the Sutherlin Methodist Church met at the social rooms for i delightful potluck noon dinner and business meeting witn Mrs. O. L. Torrey and Mrs. Louis Sheffell as host esses. The meeting was caled to order by the president, Mrs. Walter Sla ter. The devotionsls - were in charge of Mrs. Ray Parker. She chose the subject 'Working For Christ," and the two toiiowtng songs were sung by tne group: 'Work For the Night Is Coming" and 'Onward Christian Soldiers." The program for the afternoon was in charge of Mrs. Mabel Ross. Her subject was 'Circuit Kiaer tor 1952." on the mobile units and the work that they have done. This was a very interesting and educa tional topic and was enjoyed by ill present. The election of new officers for the ensuing year were as follows: Mrs. Henry Campbell, president; Mrs. Robert Weaver, vice-presi dent; Mrs. Ray Parker, secretary and Mrs. 0. L. Torrey, treasurer. Plans were made for a bake sale, which will be held Saturday, May 20. The next all-day meeting, May 22.
