Roll call found 40 members and two members from Melrose Grange present. Threre was 100 per cent officer attendance for the second time in succession. Applications for membership from Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Warner and Mr. and Mrs. Jack FutreU were read an an investigating com mittee appointed. Quarterly reports sales slip chairman Josephine Parkhurst; pest hunt chairman, George McDowell and Fred Albert us and the secretary report by Besse Lansbury.- Report were given by the var ious committees with articles on day light savings time and the observation of Good Friday being given bv the members. The H. E. chairman reported tthe turkey supper to be served Fri day night, April 18 to the Demo cratic society at the Hall, au tne ladies were urged to assist with N. OF W. The meeting opened with the sing" ing of "Oregon, My Oregon." Mrs. R. E. Crawford, chaplain pro tern, delivered the invocation. Mrs. T. L. Goodwin, secretary, read the minutes of the previous meet ing'. The treasurer, Mr. Frank Ashley, reported. Mrs. Barton an nounced that Dorothy Hunter ac cepted the candidacy for Centen nial Queen representing the club. Mrs. Kenneth Ford was pro gram chairman for the day. Her program depicted a lovely gar den. Mrs. Frank Brown gave a reading "I Married a Flower Arrangement," Mrs. Clyde Cars tens played background music while Mrs. Boyles read poetry. Included were "It Must B e Spring" by J. J. Metcalfe; ''Who Ever Makes a Garden" anonym ous; "Ode to Spring" Mary E. Bostwick and "The Country Line" by Richard H. Stoddard. While these were read, Mrs. Jack West drew an appropriate picture. Miss Lou Owens sang two songs, "Sunrise and You" and "In The Garden of my Heart." Mrs. A. J. Geddes and Mrs. A. S. Coen poured at the beautiful tea table centered with lilacs. Mrs. Robert Barton was chair man with Mrs. Charles Wilson, Mrs. R. A. Sumpton, Mrs. John Travis, Mrs. Bruce Tuck, Miss Alice Ue land, Mrs. Frank Voyt, Mrs. Doug las Wait, Mrs. Bert Wells, Miss Bess Wharton and Mrs. Charles Wharton assisting. ' Mrs. Harold Beaucamp has been added to the clubhouse grounds committee. She will serve as chair man for the next step in the land scaping. The nominating committee re ported for the 1952-53 year. Re sults are Mrs. -Earl Plummer, president; Mrs. G. E. Young, first vice-president: Mrs. J. J. Kester, second vice president; Mrs. T. Frank Ashley. Mrs. A. J. Geddes, corresponding secretary, and treasurer, Mrs. The directors include Mrs. J. M. Boyles, Mrs. W. H. Carter, Mrs. Kenneth Bushey, Mrs. Lester Neil sen and Mrs. Hershel Scott. Mrs. Eugene Sullivan has been placed on the house board to serve until 1955. Miss Ueland announced a rum mage sale for the month of May. The next meeting will be May 8. Mrs. Clyde S. Carstens will be in charge of the program at which time National Music Week will be observed. The final Tegular meeting Is scheduled for May 20 with instal lation of officers. Mrs. R. L. Whip ple is chairman of the team com mittee and Group 14 will serve, serving. She also appointed Mr. and Mrs. George McDowell, Mr. and Mrs. John Hess and Besse Lounsbury as the kitchen commit tee for the square dance Saturday night, April 19. Mrs. Velma Albertus, John Hess and Mrs. Isabella McDowell were chosen to help reorganize the Ju venile Grange. Margaret McCord volunteered to be juvenile ma tron. Discussion was held on the pres entation of the three act play to be put on by the Glide PTA the Evergreen Grange Hall Wednes-1 day evening April 30, entitled "The I Campbells are Coming." A snack j bar will be open at the close of the play. - The Lecturer's program was well received with Helen Lander, Claude Rhodes and Besse Louns-) bury winning priies for best per formances as models for the ar-; tides they purchased during the auction sale. At the close of the meeting, the quarterly birthdays were observed with serving of ice cream and cake. The next meeting will be Fri day, April 25 with a 8:30 potluck supper. The business meeting will begin at 8 p.m. DOUGLAS COURT 11 ORDER OF AMARANTH HAS MEET The regular meeting of the Douglas Court 18 of the Order of the Amaranth was held recently at the- Masonic Temple in Rose burg. Friendship Night was en joyed. Guests from Willamette Court 2. Eugene, were present. The meeting was preceded by ; a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. with the business meeting at 8 mm. 1 Those present from Willamette Court were Lois Hunt, grand con ductress; Laujette Norton, royal matron of Willamette Court; Lynn Harris, royal patron of Willamette Court, and 37 other members. The hostess committee was com prised of Genevieve Pbilippi, Ma delaine Anlauf. . The tables were decorated with ferns and Easter baskets. Place cards welcomed guests and con tained the menu. Following the meeting, coffee and cookies wereH served. YONCALLA PTA HOLDS REGULAR MEETING The regular meeting of the PTA of Yoncalla was held in the grade school Monday evening, with a large crowd present. A fine program consisting of three male quartette numbers by Si and Don Wise, Mr. Shields and Mr. Carney, was followed by a vocal duet by T. J. Moore and Melvin Atkinson. Bill Benner and Walter Thorpe put on their ventriloquist act. Er nie Carney was elected Cub Scout Leader for the coming year. The following new officers were duly elected: President, Mrs. Ber- nice Kadtke, 1st vice president, Clara Shirley; 2nd vice president, Martha Rogers; Secretary, Pauline Latham and Treasurer, Ilean Hed gers. KEYSTONE CIRCLE TO MEET THIS EVENING The Keystone Evening Circle will meet at 7:30 o'clock tonight at the home of Mrs. William Wis hart at 811 Fleser Street. AU mem bers are urged to be present. NAVY MOTHERS CLUB TO MEET TONIGHT The Navy Mothers Club will meet tonight at eight o'clock at the home of Mrs. Mary L. New house, 1307 Harrison Street, with Mrs. Ethel Hecathorn as co-hostess. A noon potluck luncheon was served and the business session presided over by the chairman, Ce celia Conklin. It was reported that three members took cookies, cro chet thread and embroidery thread to the residence of the Old Folks Home and spent the afternoon visiting. The members were Nell Lander, Mabel Garrick and.Rubie Baker. The members of the Busy Step pers Club will be guests of the Evergreen Home Economics Club Thursday, April 24. A program is planned by the committee who will be Mabel Lange, Rubie Bloom and Margaret Burt. A noon potluck luncheon will be held. The program will be comprised of three twenty minute films dis- BEGINNERS OF SWINGEROO DANCE CLUB HAVE SESSION The Beginners Group, sponsored by the Swingeroo Dance Club, met Wednesday night,- April 18, at Edenbower gym with Mrs. Fisher, president of the club, conducting the meeting. She explained how they were organized. Officers were appointed from the floor to serve for a six week pe riod. They are president, Burt Holt; secretary treasurer, Lor raine Lewis. The group will dance once a week for six weeks under the instruction of Curly Reynolds. Any of the be ginners who have received Instruc tion from Mr. Higby are eligible to attend.
