The Angels, winners of six out of seven against Sacramento, open their home schedule Tuesday night with the first of a seven-game set against the Hollywood Stars with a two-game bulge in the standings. At the season's start. Los An geles, Hollywood and Seattle were tabbed the too choices. The coming series should give a good indication of the leaders' early strength. Dusette, Nicolini Win Substitute Bout In Armory Wrestling Battle Saturday Eric "The Great" Pederson didn't show up for his bout with George Dusette in the Saturday night wrestling show. Referee Elton Owen probably wishes he had. As a consequence of the substi tute bout, Owen was knocked cold and received an injured arm. To fill in, George Dusette and Gino Nicolini were teamed against Kurt von Poppenhiem and Jack Lipscomb. For the first two rounds, the bout was peaceful and even. Du sette took the first fall after he had clamped a full nelson on Lips comb. When the grappler returned to the ring, Poppenheim slapped a half-Boston crab on Nicolini and was awarded the second round. And then things changed. Lips comb slapped an illegal hold on Nicolini and had the youngster in trouble. Referee Owen tried to separate the pair, and Lipscomb turned on him. After battering him around the head, the Eugene ruffian picked Owen up ana tnrew him from the ring. Haseman denied Satur day he and his wife were respon sible for an extra million dollars being added to the cost of hous la? at a U.S. air base under con struction here in French Morocco. Colonel Haseman is a U.S. Army engineer recently relieved of his post here by Secretary of the Army Pace in a shaketip following hot congressional criticism of the gov ernment's North African air base projects. Charges were made Monday in the U. S. Senate preparedness sub committee that Haseman's wife, Violet, known as the "Colonel's Lady," halted a crew of workmen putting up houses at nearby Nouas seur Air Base and arranged for them to start over again to pro vide more space between her government-built house and others go ing up nearby The subcommittee was told Mrs. Haseman complained that 65 feet was too close and "the plans were redrafted at her Insistence" for 120-foot lots causing additional ex penses which may range from sev eral hundred thousand dollars to more than a million dollars. Testimony put In the Senate rec ord said Army engineers and their wives were quartered in Casablan ca Hotels, but Colonel Haseman had his government home built on the air base. Ml The Univer sity of Oregon took ten first places and se telght new records to top 16 schools competing in the an nual Willamette Relays here Sat urday. Oregon State had seven firsts and three new records including a new shotput mark by Duane Eby. Eby tossed the shotput 50 feet 1 inch and won the discus throw with a heave of 130 feet 7 Inches for the only double victory in in dividual events.
