Ronnie Owens, son of Mrs. Ar well Muetzel, is in the Naval Hos pital at San Diego, Calif. Mrs. Muetzel received a phone call from him Tuesday evening. Major Repairs Underway On Winston Road By MRS. GEORGE BACHER Major repairs are underway on one of Winston's most traversed roads. Officially accepted as Civil Bend Road, No. 209, it Is known as the Glen-Hart Road to residents living in the immediate vicinity. It is the connecting link between the Coos Bay Highway and the Winston Road. Property for widening the road was deeded the county Friday by 16 property owners. Work was be gun earlv this wpplr Hrvm un. pletion, It will be some 20 to 32 feet wider, according to county officials. The road has been in rough and muddv that it sidered inadvisable for heavy ve hicles to attempt the route. School youngsters wore compelled to walk some distance to the bus. YMCA Offering Camping Trip The Roseburg YMCA Is offering a camping experience for boys of the county this year In cooperation ' with the Salem YMCA. Camp Silver Creek is now open for registrations of boys over nine years of age. Boys do not have to belong to the "Y" to make tha trip. Camp Silver Creek Is located 28 miles east of Salem and 20 miles miles southeast of Silverton on the south fork of Silver Creek. It is situated in a secluded valley be tween two ranges of hills which makes it an Ideal camp spot. The camp site is two and one-half miles from the main hghway and. two miles from Silver Falls. Fiftv- ' two buildings many with huge fire- l places, a trout stream and swim- ming hole in the heart of Camp, 4092 acres of timber, falls and creeks, shower bouse, sanitary kitchen, infirmary, spacious sleep ing quarters and a large playing -field, provide Camp Silver Creek a superb camping environment. A lifeguard will be on duty, who ' is qualified YMCA aquatic leader examiner. At least two lifeguards are on duty during swim periods and the "buddy" system Is used. A nurse is on duty 24 hours a day to care for any minor accidents or illness. Registration blanks can be se cured from the Roseburg Y.M.C.A.
