His wife, the former Norma Porter of Roseburg, lives in Salem. His sister, Mrs. J. U. Masters is a resident of Winston. The center picture Is a sample of what our fighting men in Korea call "home." When this picture was Joan Rutter Elected To Campus Position OREGON STATE COLLEGE, Corvallis (Specialt Joan Rutter of Roseburg, junior in business and technology at Oregon State Col. lege, lias recently been elected to a top campus position. She will be next year's president of Panhellenic council, advisory organization for campus sororities. Duties will include monthly execu tive council meetings and dinner meetings. Miss Rutter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Rutter, 805 Micelli St., Roseburg, is also a member of the OSC dance group, and of Orchesis, modern dance honor so ciety. She is on the Co-op board of directors, and is a member of Del ta Delta Delta, national social sorority. Wife Crashes Window Instead Of Hubby, Rival FORT WAYNE, Id. Mrs. Margaret Pereda, 33, faces two traffic charges because she drove into a store window instead of, a policeman said, running down her husband, Coyle, and another woman. The charges are reckless driving ana leaving tne scene ot an accident. Patrolman Roland Miller said he saw Mrs. Pereda argue with the couple, then get into her car and drive it over the curb at them as they walked away Monday. The car missed them but smashed a store window. Judge Alton Bloom freed Mrs. Pereda on $200 bond and delayed action until April 7. Mrs. Pereda said she had a "fit of anger" when she saw her husband with the other woman. taken by Sgt. Owens adopted Kim, then wrote Mrs. Owens in Salem, asking for the American- clothing to replace the oversized fatigues the engineers had put on the lad until they could do better. SALEM 11 A new attempt to persuade federal officials to ap prove Oregon's 40 million dollars worth of World War II veterans bonus bonds will be made next week. State Treasurer Walter J. Pear son and his deputy, Fred Pauliu, will confer in Washington, D.C., late next week with Secretary of the Treasury John W. Snyder; Charles E. Wilson, defense mobil Szer; and members of the Federal Reserve Board. The government rejected the bonus bond issue last fail on grounds it would be inflationary. Pearson said that the govern ment's distribution of 200 million of veterans insurance dividend checks is more inflationary than Oregon's bonus bonds would be. uL em .
