Master Joe Brum bach presided. Two guests and 60 members were present. A tair.ale supper honoring the play cast of "Billie's Goat" preceded the busi ness meeting. Legislative and good roads com mittees reported. The South Deer Creek Grange went on record to appoint a deputy to check on rtumpinc of trash on county roads. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Jameson and Misses Gcralding and Oma Day were admitted as members. Mr. Slabaugh of Evergreen Grange gave an interesting talk on safe driving. MEDFORD HONORED BY OFFICIAL VISIT Saturday, March 1, Mrs. Thel ma B. Small of Evansville, Ind., supreme queen of the Daughters of the Nile, made her official visit to Zulcima Temple No. 13 at Med ford. At which time a beautiful ceremonial was held in her honor. Members of Zuleima South Doug las Nile Club attending included: Mrs. V. A. Williams, Mrs. Roy Fratier, Mrs. C. A. Palo and Mrs. G. R. Aker Sr., of Myrtle Creek; Mrs. W. E. Love and Mrs. F. L. LOOKINGGLASS PTA HOLDS REGULAR MEETING The Lookingglass PTA will hold its regular meeting Friday, Feb. 14, at eight o'clock in the schoolhouse. The various' 4 11 groups will give reports on what they are doing. Lorna Vance and Ned Nay will tell of the activities that took place at the 4-H camp at Corval iis last summer. There will be a musical pro gram by the Thompson children, Mr. and Mrs. Rose and the Hay Hands. Cake and coffee will be served by the third and fourth grade mothers. MRS. FRED SCHULZE ENTERTAINS H. MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION CHANGES MEETING PLACE FOR FRIDAY The Douglas County Music Teachers Association will hold a noon luncheon at the Presbyterian Church parlors instead of the Ump qua Hotel on Friday. All mem are asked to notice the change in meeting place. DE MOLAY MOTHER'S CLUB HOLDS SESSION The De Molay Mother's Club met at the home of Mrs. Jo Feld kamp in Laurelwood. Mrs. Ruth Burger was the co-hostess. A business meeting was held presided by Mrs. Amelia McGe hey. The president, Mrs McFall was ill. Lovely refreshments were serv ed by Hie hostess after which the group spent the rest of the even ing playing several games. Prizes were awarded. RIDDLE RHYTHM REVUE TO BE HELD FRIDAY The Riddle Rhythm Revue, a benefit performance sponsored by the Riddle PTA will be held Fri day evening at the Riddle High School auditorium. This was writ ten and produced by Mrs. Dorothy Smith, member of the PTA execu tive board. It will feature top tal ent from the county. RUMMAGE SALE TO BE HELD ON SATURDAY The Women of the Moose will sponsor a rummage sale Saturday, March IS, in the Episcopal Parish Hall. A vmite sale was discussed and a committee was chosen to plan it. Plans were made for a smorgas bord supper which will be held at the home of Mrs. Robert Weber in April. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting to: Mrs. David Harem, Mrs. Robert Horn, Mrs. Fat Plumlee, Mrs. Robert Weber, Mrs. Edward Kelly, Mrs. Stan Cornutt, Mrs. William West, Mrs. Jim Standley and Mrs. Harold Walton. MORNING STAR BLUE BIRDS ELECT OFFICERS The Morning Star Blue Bird group at Futlerton School met Wednesday after school. Mrs. Bette Leach is the leader. Recently they visited Patterson's Bakery and saw step by step how bread is made. Each girl was given a doughnut and it was agreed that the trip was in teresting. SOUTH DEER CREEK GRANGE HOLD MEETING The Home Economics Club of the South Deer Creek Grange met Feb. 29 at the home of Mrs. Ed ward Karcher. The meeting was called to order by the chairman, Mrs. Joe Brumbach. Final plans were made for a banquet to be served to the Lion's Club and the 4-H club members. Vol. Road PHONE 3-4148 HOLDS RECENT MEETING YONCALLA STUDY CLUB A delightful afternoon was spent Thursday March 6, by the members of the Yoncalla Women's Studay Club, when Mrs. Dan Wright and Mrs. Guy enter tained in the social room of the Methodist Church. The room was beautifully decorated with daffo dils and other spring flowers. A one o'clock dessert-luncheon was served followed by the regular business meeting and study hour. Mrs. Cabaness had charge of the devotions. Mrs. Hugh Warner made a very strong appeal to the members of the club for the Red Cross drive. Each member is to canvass a certain locality for the campaign. Mrs. Sparks and Mrs. Phil Hunt ington had charge of the study hour. Their topic was "Music of America." Mrs. Sparks gave a very interesting talk on how In dian and Western music came to be. Mrs. Huntington spoke on Negro and Mountain music. The Indian and Negro music was illus trated by Mrs. Tim Ellis singing several beautiful numbers, accom panied by Mrs. George Edes at the piano. The Western and moun tain music was illustrated by rec ords. Group singing of old time songs completed a very enjoyable afternoon. Guests present were: Mrs. Tim Ellis, Mrs. George Edes. The morning hours were given over to com pleting the three quilts which are designed for relief work. A pot luck luncheon was enjoyed at noon. In the afternoon the business session was conducted by the pres ident. Mrs. John Mathis. The de votional service was led by Mrs. J. C. Williams. They imposed a 2 per cent cut in two of the President's budget re quests. The 25th annual session of the Grand Court. Order of the Amar anth, state of Oregon came to a successful close March 8 in the Masonic temple at Portland with the installation of new officers. Tho c"-emoP" was witnessed by more than 500 members of the oruer and friends. Winnifred K. Dyer of Cannon Beach and Fran cis R. Henkle of Gresham were seated as grand royal matron and grand royal patron. Marie L. Oder of Coral Gables, Fla., supreme royal matron, who was present, was the honored guest. Mrs. Oder spoke of the growth of the order and the many charitable activities being done by the Amaranth courts. The order is international, having courts in Australia, England, Ireland, Scot land, Canada, Alaska. Hawaii, the Philippine Islands and more than 30 states of the United States. One of the session highlights was the philanthropic committee report that an amount in excess of $3500.00 was given during the past year to the Shriner's hospital, the Portland Rehabilitation center, and the many projects carried out by the subordinate courts. A total of 1100 hours was contributed by the members in making articles for the Shrine and Dornbecker hospit als.
