The banquet will be held in the new Fullerton school, FFA boys all over the United States, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are observing this week, Feb. 16 23. All chapters are requested to observe this period in a fitting manner, according to Homer Grow, local FFA director. The week including the birthday of George Washington has been designated for special celebration, as he is the patrol saint of the FFA boys, and his picture is the symbol of the treasurer's office. Achievements Llittd The Roseburg FFA has had an active year. Five boys showed at the Douglas County Fat Limb Show, 23 showed at the County Fair, six showed at the State Fair and four showed at tne Mate Corn Show. Four boys from Roseburg at tended the state FFA convention. Ed Stritzke and Heinz Teubncr received the "state farmer" de gree, Ten boys participated in the 1951 Sheriff's Posse Rodeo calf scramble and five of them caught purebred Hereford calves donated by local business firms, Ray Gib by received a registered Hereford heifer for t Sears, Roebuck beef chain. The chapter treasure re; cently bought a new Ford tractor and disc. Local Bay State Officer Bill Austin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merl Austin of Roseburg, was re cently chosen vice-president for the Southwestern Oregon district by mail vote of the executive com mittee to replace Heinz Tuebner, who resigned to , attend college. Bin was 1950 ' star aairy larmer , of Oregon, when he received the I state farmer degree as a junior. I He now has an "A" grade dairy, near Roseburg. FFA boys seeking the state farmer degree in Southwestern j Oregon and upper Willamette Dis trict will go to Eugene for their interviews this year. Interviews will begin Friday, Feb. 29, at 1 ; p.m. and continue that afternoon and evening. They resume Satur- j day morning, March 1, at 8:30 , a.m. and continue until finished. Convention Dates Dates for the state FFA conven tion have been moved up from March 24-26 to March 18-21, with the approval of the Oregon High School Activities Association and Oregon State College, where the convention will be held The change was made to take advan tage of spring vacation, which 'n most schools coincides with the earlier dates.
