SATURDAY EVENING The Lookingglass Grange will put on a March of Dimes Jam boree, Feb. 2 at eight o'clock in the evening at the Grange Hall. There will be an auction and any one wishing to donate may call or leave them at the Grange Hall. There will be entertainment from local talent and ladies are asked to bring cakes, sandwiches or cookies. The public is invited. GREEN PTA WILL MEET AT SCHOOL FRIDAY NIGHT ' There will be a regular meet ing of the Green PTA Friday eve ning, Feb. , at 8 o'clock at the Green School. After the business meeting, the Fourth Grade will present a Founders Day pageant and an acrostic dramatization under the direction of Mrs. Wor rall. There will also be a Foound er's Day Birthday cake and silver offering. The Fourth Grade moth ers will serve the refreshments. FOUNDERS DAY TO BE OBSERVED BY ROSE PTA ON MONDAY EVENING Founders Day will be observed at the regular monthly meeting of the Rose School PTA Monday evening, Feb. 4, at 7:30 o'clock. Mrs. W. B. Meredith, president. has urged all members to be pres ent for this annual affair. Mrs. Sam Warg, program chair man for the evening, has ar ranged an interesting and educa tional entertainment A short play entitled, "Portraits" will be given. Rose PTA members make up the cast. Special background music will be furnished by a group of sixth graders under the direction of Mrs. Pettijohn, sixth grade teacher. Final plans will be made for the smorgasbord dinner to be sponsored at the school Feb. 15 from 5:30 to 8.30 p.m. The public is cordially invited. A social hour will follow the pro gram and business meeting and will be in keeping with the Found ers Day motif. Special honored guests of the evening will be past presidents and charter members of Rose PTA, who will give brief talks of humorous incidents of past years. CRUISERS CLUB HOLDS POTLUCK DINNER MONDAY The Cruisers Club of the Pres byterian Church met Monday eve ning in the church parlor for a potluck dinner. The men acted as hosts for the evening. Alva Laws provided an evening of en tertainment for the group. The Harmonica band of the Benson School, under the direction of Mrs Lockwood, presented a musical program. A motiion picture, "The Invisible" was shown. The next meeting of the club will be Feb. 25 with Dr. and Mrs. Morris Roach and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Allen as hosts and host esses. CAMAS VALLEY GRANGE ENTERTAINS POMONA GRANGE SATURDAY NIGHT Camas Valley Grange was host to Douglas County Pomona Grange Saturday, Jan. 25. About 100 Gran gers were present representing Riversdale, Evergreen, Melose, Fair Oaks, South Deer Ceek, Myrtle Creek, Azalea and Camas Valley Granges. The meeting was conducted by Pomona Grange Master Howard Craycroft. A potluck supper was held prior to the business meeting. Tables for the supper were decorated by the Camas Valley Home Econ omics Club as was the stage for the tableau. Mrs. Charles Crouch, Camas Valley lecturer was in cnarge or me iium'au. Camas Valley players presented the "Little Gypsy Tea Room" song and dance skit during the supper. The regular business meeting in cluded a report from the agricul tural committee listing the win ners of the annual Pest Hunt as Evergreen Grange first place; Riversdale, second place; and South Deer Creek, third place Twelve Granges took ttie fifth degree work. Those from Camas Valley were Mr. and Mrs. Milo Claughton, Mr. and Mrs. Marlen Yoder. Rev. L. G. Weaver and Miss Phyllis Crouch. Maggie Francis, Pomona Home Economics chairman, announced the winners of the White Satin Canning Contest. In the tree fruits division, Camas Valley took all three places: Mrs Hayden Taylor, first; Mrs. William cunmngnam, second, and Mrs. G. S. Lamm, thrid. In the jelly division, Mrs. Cuy- Moore, Camas Valley, took second place. Mrs. Taylor won 50 pounds of sugar and the other prize winners wort 25 pound of su gar. RIVERSIDE PTA TO MEET MONDAY The Riverside PTA will meet Monday at the Edenbower gym at eight o'clock in the evening. The program will consist of for eign students from the University of Oregon and a Founder! Day observance honoring past PTA presidents. Refreshments will be served. All parents are urged to attend. COMPANY SUTHERLIN GRANGE HOME ECONOMICS CLUB TO MEET MONDAY The Home Economics Club of the Sutherlin Grange will meet Monday at the home of Mrs. Mar tin. Roll call is to be answerrd by some idea that will help im prove the outside of the Grange tiau. LOOKINGGLASS GRANGE HOLD POTLLUCK DINNER Lookingglass Grange met Tues day evening, Jan. 22, at a seven o'clock potluck dinner. The busi ness meeting was held at eight o'clock with . F. Wilson, master, presiding. Harriet and J. J. Matthews were given the third and fourth degree obligation. Earl Jacoby, agricultural chair man gave an Interesting report and gave the total of points turned in for the 1951 pest hunt. Charles Howard, fire insurance agent, reported that the Grange Mutual agent had been out to in spect the hall. The Home Economics chairman announced the March of Dimes party that is to be held Feb. 2. This is a community affair and everyone is welcome A program of local talent of musical selec tions and vocal numbers, a radio skit, recitations and an auction sale has been arranged. The ar ticles for the auction are to be donated and the proceeds will go to ine marcn ot uimes. mere win be no admission but donations will be welcomed. All the ladies are asked to bring either sandwiches, cookies or cake. Coffee will be furnished. During the lecturers hour, Ira Byrd, Bertha Parkhurst and Ms. Doris Amiott gave interesting talks on the TB chest X-ray unit. The next , regular Grange meet ing will be held Feb. 12 at eight o'clock. SUTHERLIN SQUARE DANCING CLUB MEETS The Square Dancing Club of West Sutherlin met Saturday eve ning it the Roy Lucas home for an evening ef dancing. A discussion was held on giving the club i name and after many names were suggested they chose "Wagon Wheel." Several new dances were learn ed during the evening and canasta was played.
