I . Sen. Toft Hat Close Call In Auto's Spin MADISON, Wis. Wl Icy high, wayi came within inches of put ting i tragic end Tuesday to the two-day Wisconsin tour of Sen. Taft. The car carrying the Republican presidential aspirant spun around twice on the slick pavement 10 miles south of here and wound up facing in the opposite direction only scant Inches out of the path of a big semi-trailer coming from tht otner way. "1 was scared for a minute, like we all were, but it turned out all right," said Taft after the party arrived here for i reception offi cially opening his state campaign headquarters. Answers Door Bell, Gets Pie In His Face PORTLAND Wl Edward E. Sutton answered the bell at the back door of his Northeast Port land home Tuesday night. A youth of about 17 stood there, then heaved a chocholate cream pie in Sutton's face. Sutton said he had no idea why, and didn't know the youth. This is the third or fourth such incident here in recent months, but the first for Sutton. The Congress must meet anually on January 3 unless it has by law appointed a different day.
