The meeting was opened by the president. Mrs. Hugh rtijSKs. The minutes of previous meeting were read by the secretary Mrs. Al Neat. Mrs. Ted Rice Rave the treas urer's report. She report) that $40.00 was taken in from the ma gician snow and $20.00 from the luncheon served to the principals of Douglas county by the PTA members. Mrs. Mel Wheaton, room mother chairman, gave a report on the Christmas parties to be held in the various class rooms Friday afternoon previous to Christmas. Mrs. Ted Kice gave a report on the mobile cnest x-ray plans brought out In the meeting that she attended Monday evening, Dec. 10, at Roseburg. The x-ray unit will visit South Douglas county from Jan. 15-Feb. 16. . Mrs. Roy Denman gave a county council meeting report. She reports that there u a study group program on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. over KRXL. These pro grams deal with subjects of in terest to the members of the dif ferent study groups. Thursdays at 4 p.m. over KRNR will be speeches on timely topics spon sored by Douglas county council. Before turning the program over to the program chairman Mrs. Herb Bell, Mrs. Riggs an nounceu thai file next execu tive board meeting will be held at the Paul Froehlich borne Jan. next regular f TA meeting will be Jan. 10. It will be teacn ers night with Departmental dem onstrations. The program opened with the flag salute and singing of "Amer ica" by the sudience. Rev. James E. Kratz was the accompanist at the electric organ. Mrs. Jack Doud read a very timely poem "Christmas Vaca lion." Mr. Goodpasture sang "There s A Song Jn The air" "1 Just Pre tend," a' very touching bit of poetry, was given by Mrs. Ken Winston. Rev. Krati did a little reminiscing with words and mu sic at the electric organ. His song selections were "Dreaming of a White Christmas" and "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear." There was singing of Christmas carols by the PTA group. Refreshments were served by the third grade mothers and teachers. SWINGEROO SQUARE DANCE CLUB TO MEET The Swingeroo Square Dance club will meet Saturday, Dec. i2, at the Edenbower gym. All lad ies are asked to bring fruit cake. These Items Are On Display at LAWSON'S 114 North Jaekion RIVERSDALI HEC HAS CHRISTMAS PARTY AT HALL Holly, tinsel and other holiday decorations were used for the old- lasnioned Christmas party held by the Riversdale Home Economics club at the Grange hall recently. A potluck luncheon was served at 12:30 o'clock. Margaret Booth was elected vice chairman at the business meeting. Plans were made for the social night and Christmas party to be held at the Uau Dec. 22 at which time everyone attending is asked to bring a 50 cent gut to exchsnge. Parents are requested to bring gifts for their own chil dren. Those attending are also asked to bring a contribution tow ards the Christmas treats for the evening. Plans were also made for a New Year's eve watch party be ginning with a potluck dinner at b:30 suarp. Games ana entertain ment will be provided lor all age groups. Christmas carols were sung and gifts were exchanged. Guests present were: Mrs. Lyle Bost wick, Mrs. Fred Parrott, Mrs. W. U. Love, Mrs. Harvey Ewens and Mr . F. G. Ewens. FAIR OAKS GRANGE HE CLUB HOLDS POTLUCK DINNER Home Economic club of the Fair Oaks Grange met Friday at the hall east of Sutherlin for a delightful potluck dinner. The Christmas motif was . carried out through the spacious room with a very pretty centerpiece con sisting of Santa Claus and his sleigh with eight reindeer a r ranged by the 'hostesses, Mrs. Jean Smith and Mrs. Mary Whit ney. Covers were placed for: Mrs. Maggie Francis, Mrs. Evelyn Frotscher, Mrs. Jennie Harrison, Mrs. Dora Hamilton, Mrs. Dor othy Norton, Mrs. Jean Smith, Mrs. Billie Williams, Mrs. Velma Brauninger, Mrs. Jeanette Loerts, Mrs. Josephine Carr, Mrs. Pearl Thornton, Mrs. Mary Whitney and Mrs. Mary Vincent. The business meeting was caUed to order Dy ine cnairman, airs. Jean Smith, and the roll call was answered to by giving a fav orite recipe. The various committees of the club gave short interesting re ports. ' A handkerchief shower was given in honor of Mrs. Mary Whit ney, who is leaving the first of the year for New York, where she will make her home. The next meeting will be held at the hall Friday, Jan. 18, and the new officers for the year 1952 will assume their offices. RIVERSDALE GRANGE TO HAVE CHRISTMAS PARTY ON SATURDAY The Riversdale Grange will hold the annual Christmas party at eight o'clock Saturday evening at the hall. Adultsr aaskdto rbingee the hall. Adults are asked to bnn? gifts for exchange. Parents are asked to bring gifts for their chil dren. Everyone attending is asked to bring a contribution for the treats. LAZY DAISY CLUB HOLDS DECEMBER SESSION The December meeting of the Lazy Daisy club was held at the home of Mrs. Leo Wilkerson. After a buffet luncheon and a social hour the business meeting was held. New officers were elected as follows: president, Mrs. Leland Pittam; vice president, treasurer, Mrs. Floyd Downing; secretary, Mrs. Marion Sowa and publicity chairman, Mrs. Al Fish. All members were urged to at tend the Christmas party to be held at the Evergreen Grange hall at Winston Dec. 14. If members find it impossible to attend the party, they were asked to send their gifts and the food they were asked to bring. The next meeting will be held Jan. 3 at the home of Mrs. Ver non Brlstow. IUTHERLIN ORANGE HOLDS POTLUCK AND CHRISTMAS PARTY Sutherlin Grange met Friday evening at the Grange hall west of town for a delightful potluck turkey dinner and Christmas The spacious hall was beautifully beautifully decorated in the Christmas motif and . the tables were grated with clever arrange ments. , Covers were placed ' for over 200 Grangers and their families. Santa Claus arrived on the scene and distributed candy canes and popcorn to all of the children. Charles Wahl gave an interest ing welcome talk and Mrs. Eliz abeth Gleason gave the invoca tion. . Mrs. Fred Walters had charge of the program, which consisted of a duet by Ellen Wahl and Miss Sanders a solo. "White Christmas," by Dorothy Bringle; several readings by children of tne urangers ana a Christmas poem by Charles Wahl. Dancing was enjoyed until a late hour with Frank Nicolizzl calling the square dances. The next regular Grange meet ing will be held Wednesday eve ning, Dec. 26, and will be pre ceded by a potluck supper. All Granie members are urged to attend. WSCS OF SUTHERLIN HOLDS POTLUCK DINNER The Women'a Society of Chris tian Service met Thursday at the Sutherlin Methodist social rooms lor a delightful Christmas Meet lit! and potluck dinner. The ta bles were decorated in the Christ' mas motif by Mrs. Stella French. hostess. A lighted Christmas tree was placed at one side of the spa-1 cious room and many beautifully' wrapped guts were placed under it. .! Covers were placed for: Rev. and Mrs. Rosert Fell and small son; Mrs. Robert Weaver and son; Mrs. Arthur Tremen and daughter; Mrs. Tremen, Mrs. nenry Barge, Mrs. Henrietta Bos wick, Mrs. C. D. Stlllwell and granddaughter; Mrs. Ruth Pogue, Mrs. William Crowell, Mrs. Wal ter Slater, Mrs. Ward C. Watson, Mrs. Harold Jones, Mrs. Jennie Comstock, Mrs. Orville French, Mrs. H. V. Church. Mrs. Lewis Sheffol, Mrs. Wilson Swift, Mrs. nay ranter and Mrs. Jesse Cooper. , - Rev. Fell had charge of the devotionals. The program of the afternoon was in charge of Mrs. Crowell and was as follows: singing of Christmas carols, readings by Mrs. Fell and Mrs. French, two solos by Mrs. Pogue and Mrs. Watson and a Christmas story read by Mrs. Slater. The afternoon closed with the exchange of gifts and an enjoy able social hour. The next regular meeting ''and potluck dinner will be held Thurs day, Jan. 24. DANCING SCHOOL TO HOLD CHRISTMAS PARTY Ralph Patterson's Roseburg School of Dancing will hold its annual Christmas party Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the studio. Several members volunteered to donate blood for the bloodmobile. Beulah Harder was admitted by transfer from the Sweet Home, Ore., lodge. Gifts are to be sent to the Odd fellows home in Portland for Vic tor Boyd, who is 'a resident there from this lodge and for Catherine Bingman, an adopted sister. There were 45 members pres ent. There were 30 on the pink team and 15 on tne green, ine totals for the contest, which has i now closed, shows 257 for the pink and 172 for the green. The green team will give a dinner for the winning side Jan.8. The FL girls sponsored a Christ mas tree and program after the close of the lodge. Gifts were ex changed and refreshments were served in the dining hall. The next regular meeting will beheld Jan. 8.
