1 8 The Hewi-Revlew, Roieburg, RIVERSDALE HOME EXTENSION UNIT TO MEET TUESDAY The Riversdale Home Extension unit will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Rlversdale Grange hall. There will be a sack luncheon at noon. Coffee will be furnished. The topic for the day will be "Hol iday Decorations from Nature," with Mrs. Emmilt Waltera and Mrs. Joe Toman as leaders. MELROSE HEC HOLDS WEDNESDAY MEETING The Melrose Home Economics club met Wednesday evening at the borne of Mrs. Dave Busenbark with Mrs. L. L. Chitwood as co hostess. WEST MELROSE CLUB MEETS AT JAMES HOME The West Melrose club met at Ihe home of Mrs, Grover James, Dec. 6, for a dessert-luncheon at 1:30 p.m. The following members were present: Mrs. Howard Kai ser and Kay and Billy; Harold Evans, Evelyn Warren, Mary Sanders, Betty James and Johnny; Amy Seeley, Ed Moon, George Outhouse, Mrs. Wayne Barmore and the hostess Mrs. Grover James, Carry and Mike. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Lee Jones, Dec. 20 It will be a Christmas party. Secret pals will be re vealed and there will be an ex change of gifts. All members are asked to be present. JOLLY THIMBLE CLUB PLANS CHRISTMAS FUN The Jolly Thimble club met at the Melrose school Thursday, Dec. 13. They held a business meeting. It was decided to have a Christ mas party at the Melrose school, Thursday, Dec. 20. Officers were elected for the coming year at follows: chair man, Erma Wilson; vice chair man, Evelyn Mazon, and secretary-treasurer, Elberta Kerr. Members present were Grace Forbes, Susie Orr, Betty Forbes and Pearl Mathis, A very pleasant afternoon was enjoyed and plans were made for a spring festival and penney sup per to be held in the Grange hall on Mar. 21. The next meeting of the club will be on Jan. 3 with a potluck luncheon at the Grange hall. All members are urged to be presnet. All members of the Grange are automatically members of the Home Economici club. MELROSE GRANGE TO HOLD CHRISTMAS PARTY The Melrose Grange will have the annual Christmas party at the hall Tuesday, Dec. 18. A potluck luncheon will be at seven o'clock and each member is asked to bring own table service, and at least one hot dish, salad or des sert. There will be an exchange of gifts for adults. Parents are asked to bring a gift for their own chil dren. The program will include a presentation, "The Hand Maiden of the Lord," by the Community players. Santa Claus will be there. All members and families are urged to attend. ROSEBURG WOMAN'S CLUB TO MEET TUESDAY The Roseburg Woman's club will hold a Christmas program Tues day at 1:30 p.m. at the clubhouse. Miss Helen Wagoner is to give a reading, "A Child Is Born," with background music by Miss Naomi Scott, violinist. There is a group of seven members to serve as hostesses for the tea. KEYSTONE CIRCLE TO MEET MONDAY The Keystone evening circle of the Methodist church will meet Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock at the home of Mr. Bruce El liott, 1314 Madrone. Hostess will be Mrs. Adrian Fisher, Mrs. Clifford Aten, Mrs. Raymond Hor ton, Mrs. Frank Purdy and Mrs. L. R. Horton. Devotions and programing will be in charge of Mrs. A. B. Taylor. A delightful potluck dinner was served at ta bles decorated in the Christmas motif. Group singing of Christmai car ols was enjoyed during the after noon. The election of officers for the ensuing year included: Mrs. Mar tha Davis, president; Mrs. Dor othy Longbrake, vice president, and Mrs. Wilma Pelland, secre tary and treasurer. Two large boxes were packed to be sent to the Farm Home at Corvallis. Mrs. . Hanson presi dent, had charge ol the business session. Plans were made by the mem bers to hold a New Year's eve party at the Elgarose school. A potluck supper will be served at seven o'clock. Pie and coffee will be served at midnight. A short program with cards will be enjoyed during the evening. Mrs. Velma Tinker and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Lundcen were visit ors, Mrs. Tinker joined the club. Lovely poems and readings were given following the business ses sion and also a quiz was given by Mrs. Connie Showers. Mrs. Tinker won the door prize. Members are asked to meet at 6:45 p.m. the same date at the County home for Christmas caroling. AMERICAN LEGION TO MEET ON TUESDAY The American Legion auxiliary unit No. 16, asks all members to bring sandwiches or cookies to the Christmas party at eight o'clock, Tuesday, Dec. 18, in the Kohlhagen building on North Jackson. LILAC CIRCLE TO HOLD CHRISTMAS PARTY The Lilac circle No. 49. Neigh bors of Woodcraft, will hold the annual Christmas program and fish pond for the children at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the IOOF hall. Drain By GRACE JENKINS Gordon (Buster) Shirley, who recently joined the army air cops, is now at Lackland field, San An tonio, Tex., where, according to last information, he will be sta tioned seven weeks for basic train ing. His wife, Joann, is now stay ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Roadh, and plans to join Buster when his basic train ing is over. Pack No. 3 of the Cub scouts, to whom Mrs. Adlyn Strickland is Den Mother, sold $3.00 worth of mistletoe last Saturday. The money will be used to help the boys in any way they need it. I Mrs. Strickland says they will have more mistletoe next weejc and those who did not get any this time, may call 582 and the order will be taken.
