I ROSE fTA MEMBERS HOLD DICIMBIR SESSION AT THI SCHOOL Rose PTA members met Dec. S it the Rose school. The program wis conducted by Mrs. (rank noodworth. There were two solos by mem bers of the Koseburg Choral so ciety. The solos were taken from "The Messiah." They were given by Mrs. Halite Woodward and Frank Moore and were accompan ied by Mrs. Helen Saar. Mrs. May Matthews gave an in teresting talk on an "Old Fash ioned Christmas." Jackson RIVIRSDALI GRANGE HAS INTERESTING MEETING FRIDAY NIGHT Rlversdale -Grange met Friday night it the hall with an excellent attendance of members. Carl Youn- gren, master, presided. tour applications tor member ship were read and referred to the committee on candidates. - Adam Schneider and Harvey Ew ens gave agriculture reports. The executive committee w i a given lutbority to get new front concrete steps. Lecturer Hilda Walters conducted I program of readings, skits and songs by the Men's Chorus. Officers md committee mem bers are requested to meet Mon day night, Dec. 17, to outline the program for the coming year. Refreshments for the Dec. 21st meeting will be served by ' the Home Economics club members. Dec. 22, is the date of the annual Home Economics club members. Dec. 22, is the date of the annual Christmas party, which will be held at eight o'clock in the evening at the hall. Adults are asked to bring gifts for exchange and parents are to bring gifts for their children. Ev eryone attending is asked to bring treats. TWO-DAY BAZAAR TO BE HELD THIS WEEK The public has been Invited to enjoy the two-day bazaar of the Roseburg Woman's club, which will be an event of Friday and Saturday clubhouse on W. Mosher street. On Friday, sandwiches and coffee will be served from noon to 2 p.m. Tea will be served from 2 to 4 p.m. with Mrs. L. W. Metzger as hostess chairman. Saturday, tea will be served from 2 to 4 p.m. with Mrs. Sig Fett as hostess chairman. AU types fo gifts, foods and holi day greens will be on sale during the two-day bazaar. An enjoyable afternoon was spent by members of the Yoncalla Wom en a Mudy club at their meeting held at the home of Mrs. Fred Merk Thursday, with Mrs. Edgar Richard as co-hostess. A delicious one o'clock dessert-luncheon was enjoyed. Plans were made to hold the annual Christmas oartv Dec. 20 with exchange of gifts. The program for the afternoon was on United Nations. Mrs. Mc Donald read i paper, prepared by plishments of the United Nations. Dicussion followed. The following guests were present: Mrs. Martha ELKHEAD HE CLUB ELECTS NEW OFFICERS At i recent meeting of the Elk head Home Economics club the fol lowing officers were duly elected for the coming year: Mrs. Ethel Reeves, president; Mrs. Mabel Luby, vice president; Mrs. Mabel Allen, secretary-treasurer. A potluck dinner waa enjoyed at noon. Plans were made to hold the annual Christmas party Dec. 18. A parcel post shower honoring Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ruggles was held, and sent U them at their home near Salem. Games were played and prizes Rreider of Nebraska,' sister of Mrs, went to Pauline Gore, Anna Har land and Mable Roberts. The next meeting will be it the home of Maureen Muetzel, Dec. 20, for the annual Christmas party. Gifts will be exchanged. All mem bers are asked to be present. All membera ire cordially invited to attend. Pelton Dam Opponents Referred To Interior Dept. PORTLAND P Bringing pressure to bear on the secretary of the Interior is the best way to nait construction of tne controver sial Pelton dam, members of the Izaak Walton league were told here. The league, an organization of sports fishermen, opposes the dam on the grounds it might harm fish runs in the Deschutes river. Port land General Electric ccompany wants to build the dam to in crease the northwest power sup ply. Rollln E. . Bowles, chairman of the league s Columbia river fish eries committee, said that league members should urge the secre tary of Interior to hold up a cer- iincaie ot necessity tor the pro posed dam.
