I I CANASTA CLUB HOLDS DESSERT-LUNCHEON AT ECOLESTON HOME Mrs. Amie Eggleston entertained her canasta elub at a one-thirty o'clock dessert-luncheon at her home east of Sutherlin Tuesday. Bouquets of fall flowers were used about the rooms. Canasta was in play during the afternoon with Mrs. Magness hav ing high score and Mrs. Halvorson, low. Those enjoying the afternoon with Mrs. Eggleston were: Mrs. Itha Barnes. Mrs. Jolly Bever, Mrs. Helen Shamrell, Mrs. Phyllis Halvorson, Mrs. Marian Magness, Mrs. Madeline Hansen, Mrs. Vera holm, Mrs. Lucille Chriss and Mrs Myrtle Owens. Neil Christian and Greg, Mark and Dean and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Knapp. Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Kruse and daughter, Joan, entertained guests at a lovely 6:30 p.m. turkev din ner Thanksgiving day. A fall cen terpiece adorned the dining table. Guests present were: Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Miss Barbara Covey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Covey ar rived home Tuesday from S a a Francisco, Calif., where she has been attending the Merritt Busi ness college since last October. Miss Covey took an examination offered by the International Busi ness school for general office ma chines and received a scholarship for her ability. Mr. and Mrs. Laurance are planing a trip to San Diego in the near future to visit their son. Corporal John Hodges, recently returned to the United States from Germany, arrived at the parental Orville Hodges home last Monday. Mrs. Norman Suiter and Grand ma Allison went to Eugene Thurs day where they spent 'the Thanks giving holidays at the Ray Suiter home. . Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Holt and family of Creswell; Bernell Goins and family were Thanksgiving dinner guests of Mrs. Flora Holt. Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Golden and Cathy left for Salem Wednes day to spend Thanksgiving holi days with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Greeorv snent Thanksgiving day with relatives at Eugene. This is the first grand child of Mr. and Mrs, Sidney Mea cham, Mrs. Kerr was Peggy Mea cham before her marriage and is well known around the commu nity. Jack was recently released from the army, but the family will perhapa remain a while in Cali fornia before coming to Roseburg where they own their own home.
