The long tables were placed in the hall ways and were decorated in the Thanksgiv ing motif, by Mrs. Corwin Loving and her committee. Places were arranged for 169 fathers and daughters, combined and a tew persons had to be turned away aa they failed to make reser vations. Program for the evening was as follows: Mr. Thomas Haban, mas ter of ceremonies; toast to fathers by Janice Parks; toast to daueh Icrs by Orville Smith; song, "My Hero" by Dorothy Bringle; seventh grade girls gave a dance under the supervision of Miss Jeanette Hnlloway. Slide trombone solo, Body and Soul " by NicKie Norton concluded the program. The committees in charge oi tne affair were: Mrs. Meryl Wahl, re freshments; Mrs. Lena Hounshell, clean ud committee: Mrs. Corwin I-oving. decorating committee. Mrs Thelma Wilson's boys did the serv ing which was plate style. AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY HOLDS RECENT SESSION American Legion auxiliary, unit 174, met at Halo hall, Tuesday, Nov. 13 to plan a dance to be held in the grade school gym. in the near future. Mrs. Harold Rogers was hostess for the meeting and served a lunch eon to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bales and family of Portland; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Thompson and fam ily; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Conaway. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Lloyd and son, Carroll: Mr. and Mrs. Dan Russell and family; Chauncey Smith, Mrs. Karl Hummell and Richard Strait. GALESVILLE PTA HOLDS PARTY FOR TEENAGERS SATURDAY The Galesville PTA was hostess for a party to the teenagers of the school Saturday, Nov. 17. Over 20 youngsters were present and quite a few adults. Jim Lyons was leader for the folk dances and the students are making progress in learning all the various changes. Refreshments were served at a later hour. The next party date will be announced later. NEW 4-H CLUB STARTED AT WINSTON A new 4-H club was started at Winston by Roberta Buttler. The name given the club was Winston Hem Stitchers. It was begun Nov. 12, Officers elected were: Roberta Buttler, president; Vivian Cas sidy, vice-president; Evelyn Sivola, secretary; Mable Buttler news re porter, and fedna Sivola, song leaner. The meetings will be held every Saturday afternoon at three o'clock The first project will be a hot dish holder. WORTHY MATRONS AND PATRONS HONORED AT CANYONVILLE Ten past worthy matrons and four past worthy patrons were hon ored at a meeting of Oregon chap ter. No. 57, OES, Canyonville, on past matrons ana patrons night Nov. 7. A speci'al adenda honored them and corsages were presented to tne past wormy matrons Dy Mrs. W. Frank Brown, worthy matron. Beta Sigma Phi, will meet Tuesday at Carl's Haven for a dinner and will ad journ to the home of Mrs. Robert Davie, 1940 Patricia Lane, for busi ness session and ritual. COW CREEK ROD AND GUN CLUB HOLDS SESSION The Cow Creek Rod and Gun club .held Its meeting at the Grange hall, Wednesday, Nov. 14. The evening was spent in target practice and visiting Refreshments were served after the meting. OLALLA-TENMILE HE UNIT TO MEET The Olalla-Tenmile Home Ex tension unit will meet at the home of Mrs. Marueen Muetzel, Tuesday at 11 a.m., with Maureen Muetzel and Bessie Smith as project lead ers. The Demonstration will be on "Party Planning." This project includes planning for a party from selection of theme, activities, fav ors and general suggestions for having a successful party whether at home or for a large commu nity gathering. UY QUALITY AND SAVE ALPHA IOTA CHAPTER HOLDS RECENT SESSION Mrs. Harold Monighan, member of Alpha Iota chapter. Beta Sigma Phi, and also an Australian war bride, presented a very interesting program on the conduct of friend ship when the chapter met last Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. William Gray. Mrs. Monighan said that she considered the people of America very friendly in comparison with what she termed the typical Eng lish reserve of her native Australia. During the meeting, Mrs. Ralph Wiley, Mrs. Don O'Neill, Mrs. Wil liam Weber and Mrs. Robert Kent were asked to help with the food at the formal city council dance. Members also voted to send a record a month to the county home for the enjoyment of the patients. Mrs. Gray assisted by Mrs. Rob ert Davie served delicious refresh ments to Mrs. Bud Cowin, Mrs. Robert Foye, Mrs. Harry Hill, Mrs. J.
