The indictment of big-time col lege athletics was delivered by Judge Saul S. Streit yjsterdsy in sentencing players in a basket ball bribery case. Odell told a reporter: "It is not fair to a great game like football for anyone to condemn the entire sport because of certain infrac tions of the honor code." He said the jobs held by athletes at Washington are open to scrutiny and are known by Pacific Coast conference officials. But, Odell insisted, an athlete "earns his way." "At Washington," Odell contin ued, "athletes must make their grades or be dropped from school. Entering freshmen must have the required grades or they cannot enter. tcrmen are Ed Nolte, standing five eight and Bruce Dalros at jix-two. Galloping Ghost Battles H. Parks In Main Match "It's time I gave him (the Gal loping Ghost) someone just as rough and tough as he Is and I've got just the guy Herb Parks," said Matchmaker Elton Owen after last week' wrestling show. Owen, pressurized by the fans to sign a grappler who can stop the hooded hoodlum's winning streak, got mad and signed Parks to meet the Ghost in the main wrestling bout in the armory arena Satur day night. Last week the Ghost disabled Gordon Hessell prior to the final round for his fifth straight victory in the local ring. And he has been calling for some rough competi tion. Not long ajo, he left the east because wrestlers refused to meet him. Parks has spent the summer op erating his lodge in Canada, and he will enter the ring in perfect condition. He has perfected h i s stomping step-over toe hold and is one of the most dynamic wres tlers to hit this area. Bloodshed Expected Matchmaker Owen says there Is bound to be bloodshed when these two rough brawlers get their blood pressure up. Herb's younger brother, Bill, will t .gle with a versatile Texan Gene Blaxely, in the semi-final. Last week Bill held the Australian tough Jack Carter, to a draw and the fans will be giving him all their support. Blakely hails from the old school of wrestling and believes in shak ing his opponent up. He is an ex pert on leverage and remains cool under fire. This looks like an even match that could go either way. Opening the card will be a clean, . scientific match between Lou Macera, a 189-pound Italian, and Bob DeMarce, Green Bay, Wis.
