Miss Sherk won the room count and Mrs. Mary Wells was ore- tented a two-year past presidents pin and bar. - Mrs. Abiln asked for some men to help set up chairs at the cub pack meeting which is held once a month at the school Miss Sherk gave a very Inter esting talk on "Art, What It Means To Our Children," and showed illustrations of art advancements through the grades. ' . The meeting was adjourned to the lunch room, where Mrs. Ruth Gibbons served refreshments. Three of Mrs. Miller s camp Fire girls entertained the children'.. The excutlve council has com pleted' the school census for Ben son district of which the PTA treasurer will receive 25 cents per child.. ,.y..v- . , YONCALLA STUDY CLUB HOLDS REGULAR. MBETIN8 , Mrs." LeRoy Hanson and Mrs. Ben MeU were hostesses to the regular meeting of the Yoncatla Study club at the Hanson home Thursday afternoon. A delicious one o'clour luncheon was served by the hostesses, assisted by Mrs. Vern Williams and Mrs. McDon ald. During the study period plans were made to hold a hobby show in the Epworth hall of the Meth odist church Thursday afternoon, Nov. IS. Yoncalla ladies inter ested are invited to attend. The Drain Study club .will be guests for the afternoon with Mrs. Dan Wright and Mrs. Ben Meti in charge. Two very interesting papers were read by Mrs. Hazel Latham and Mrs. Harold Turpin on the new highway 99 and how it will affect the town of Yoncalla and community. Mrs. -Latham con tacted most of the business houses in town and some were for the new highway and others claimed it would ruin the city. Mrs. Tur pin's paper dealt mora with sta tistics compiled from newspaper reports, and reports from various engineers. The chairman, Mrs. Wooten, led the business meeting. Program planning for the coming year was the main business brought before the group. Miss Betty Jane Patterson led the demonstration on "Nutritious Meals At Low Cost." She dis cussed moderately priced menus and their food value in relation to the more expensive meal plans. A potluck luncheon was served to the following: Norma Fenn, Crystal Conn, Margaret Reese, Juanita Hills, Grace Fenn, Au drey Meger, Ruth Wooten, Betty 6'Neill, Jerry Dent, Betty Jane Patterson and Ella Mae Young. HOME ECONOMICS CLUt 1 OP BLKHBAO ORANGE HOLDS WEDNESDAY SESSION The Home Economics dub of the Elkhead Grange met at the Elkhead haU Wednesday after noon. A potluck luncheon was served, with Mrs. Wilbur Briner and Mrs. Melvin Howard as host esses. The tablea and hall were beautifuly decorated In the Hallo ween motif. Mrs. Alta Thompson, chairman, called the meeting to order. Plans for a Grange community baked ham. dinner, which will be held Nov. 19, were discussed and Mrs. Gladys Jazek and Mrs. Ida Pink ston from the Grange, and Mrs. Mildred Briner and Mrs. Daisy Bowman were appointed to plan the dinner. The public is invited to attend. A charge will be made for the dinner. A plant sale during the meeting netted $8.30. Those present were: Mae. HALLOWEEN FROLIC ENJOYED IN DILLARO A Halloween frolic and family affair, was held at the Dillard school Wednesday evening under the auspices of the Dillard Parent Teachers association. A capacity crowd attended the various con cessions,, visited the gypsy for tuneteller, the house of horrors and enjoyed the moving pictures for the young and old. The highlight of the evening was the grand march at nine o'clock with all of the younger generation dressed in wierd costumes partic ipating. Mrs. ueuomy, newly appointed director of vol unteer hospital workers, conducted the meeting. She presented the rules on hospital work and work ers and discussed them. Mrs. Thorn, rehabilitation chair man, gave a report on the work of the rehabilitation commission. This commission consists of six members, three legion and three auxiliary members, who are ap pointed for one, two or three years. The commission hires a service officer and a hospital representa tive for each hospital. Mr. Barker, social service worker, gave a report on his work, which is a new department at the hospital. Mr. Allen gave a report on the problems of the rehabilitation rep resentatives. Mr. Shaw gave a report on the work of the service officer in the hospitals and the services , done by the department. Discussions of how each depart ment could help the volunteer hos pital workers was held after the reports. Some certificates were presented to some of the volun teer workers present. Mrs. Letha Garey is the only volunteer worker in Roseburg who has obtained the 1,000 hour bar which is given by the national department of vol unteer hospital workers. Refreshments of cake and ice cream were served after the meet ing.
