Nixon, Idleyld Park resi dent for many years, has just re ceived news from his daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Hnlsinger, missionaries in China for the past two years. The Hol singert have left Shanghai for a tour of 4he Holy Land and Jeru salem, and from there they will visit Italy, Belgium and England. They plan to sail for New York in August. On their way home to Idleyld. they will stop at Villa Park, III., to visit Mr. HolsinRer's father, who is pastor of a church there. Mrs. llolsinser was the former Madra Elayne Nixon. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. l.onnie Brooks were Mrs. Brooks' brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Thurman. and their two daughters, Brenda and Kath leen from Noti and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Foster and sons, John and David, from Azalea. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley L. Kidder of Ko eburg and their guest, Mrs. Grace Hunt of Oakland, Calif., drove to the North Umpqua home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur M. Selby for afternoon lea on Friday. Noble McMillan, owner of Mac's Place, is giving his ten cabins a coat of white paint. Now that the fire season is on, there is much activity at the head quarters of the North Umpqua dis trict of the national forest service located at Glide ranger station. The North Unipquza district em brasea the North Umpqua river as far up as Boulder creek, the Little river watersheds and Steam boat creek. Contained within the orotective boundaries of this dis- ' trict, are 2MI.0O0 acres of national forest lands and approximately 275.000 acres of privately owned land. This acreage has some of the best and largest stands of limber remaining in western Oregon. The personnel at. Glide ranger station for a year are: District ranger, G. W. Churchill; district assistant Melvin McCord: timber manager assistant Donald Warman Gor don Sanford and William Brins field.
