Former Canyonville Boy
Drowns Near Med ford
Donald Beach of Medford, who
drowned last Wednesday, was a
former resident of Canyonville. He
attended the local high school as
a junior earlier his term. Donald,
his mother, Mrs. Lucille Beach,
and his sister, Vlrgifia, lived at
the Evergreen Motel here.
Donald was drowned in Rogue
river while swimming near the
mouth of Butte creek. His sister,
Virginia, and two other compan
ions, also of Medford, saw him
disappear over a shelf of rock.
They summoned and ambulance
and a resusritator. State police
and the sheriff's squad were called
to the river later and a tank of
oxygen was used in an attempt to
revive him when his body was re
moved from the stream. Intern
ment was in Los Angeles.
The Beach family moved to Med
ford last November. About a vear
ago Mr. Beach was killed in a
dynamite explosion near Canyon
ville while working on the highway.
