Gay is an exceptionally good ball carrier, too. but his defensive abilities saved many a game for the Irish. Holmes Becomes Braves' Manager CHICAGO (. Tommy Holmes, lacking even half a sea son of minor league managerial seasoning, today took the heist of the Boston bravea abandoned by a four-time national league pen nant winner nearly twice his age. West Side Win Replay Protested Game By mutual consent of the team manager, the gam between the Christian Church and West Side league has been ruled "no-con test. The tilt was played Friday, June 15, and was won by West Side, 22-18, accounting for the only loss oy the Christians. According to YMCA Director Merlin Donaldson, the game was not forfeit because both teams were guilty of violations. The pro test was tendered by the Christian church because West Side was playing three ineligible players.
