She re mained there unlil Friday, as a cuest of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Henson and children. Mrs. Henson is a dauRhter of Kred Green of this community. Mr. and Mrs. John Henry, who have been residing in the residence of Senator and Mrs. Tom Parkin son while Ihe latter couple attended ttie current in Salem, have rented a house at R25 Miller street, in Roseburg. They plan to move within the next 4-H MARKETING DAY Total of 154 4-H Marketing club members and leaders (upper pictural war in Roseburg April 26 for their annual marketing day. i A tour of the city was planned for the group, com prised of eighth grade students who had submitted -400-word assays on some phases of mar keting. At noon George Luoma, president of the Roseburg cham ber of commerce, sponsor of Ihe contest, addressed the stu dents from the courthouse steps. In the afternoon they attended Ihe theater and were given free pop by Fullerton, Schemer and Coca-Cola Bottli.ng works There were 47 students from Reedsport. Other schools rep resented were Wilbur, Green, Glendale.'Scotts Valley, Camas Valley, Tiller, Days Creek, Riversdale, Tenmile, Callahan Trail and Dillard. The lower picture shows the marketing essay contests win ners in their respective clubs. An article on dairying by Joan Wesson of Green was tha win ning entry. She received a $20 scholarship to 4-H summer school. Larry Mullarky of Glen dale won $5 for his essay, "From the Chick to the Egg." Other winners received one dollar each. (Picture by Paul Jankinsl Surveyed Doctors Told To Shed Surplus Weight BUFFALO. N. Y. (."PI Your family doctor probably would live longer if he'd take his own advice and lose weight. At least that's what two New York City city physicians found in a survey of 200 doctors at Mount Sinai's hospital in New York. Drs. Arthur M. Master and Ken neth Chesky told the meeting of the Medica! Society of New York State that almost 65 percent of the doctors surveyed had some sort of heart trouble. The great majority were over weight, they said, and added there was "a definite relationship b e tween being too fat and having heart trouble." S.P. Engineer Steps Up To Division Chief WASHINGTON UP) -Colonel Donald S. Burns, Portland district engineer, will be elevated to the position of chief of the Southern Pacific division at San Francisco May 14. Colonel Bums, who went to the Portland district in 1949, will suc ceed Colonel John S. Seybold, who is being transferred to the office of the chief of engineers in Wash ington. Colonel Burna Is a 1920 graduate of West Point, and served in North Africa and Italy in WorlU War II. Local News Living In East Word has been received by Mrs. Fred Stora Jr., of Roseburg, that her mother, Mrs. Floyd Wilson, and her brother, Floyd Wilson Jr., are now mak ing their home at 32 Florence Ave.. Revere, Mass., while Wilson is stationed there with the navy. Wilson is former service manager at Hanson Motor Co., Roseburg. Leaving For California Mr. anr Mrs. Carl W. Muller of Rose burg are leaving for San Fran cisco, Calif., May 8 where they will stay at the Fairmont hotel for one week as guests of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Mr. Muller re ceived the invitation as a result of his outstanding sales record in 1950 BAD AIM. GOOD LUCK - BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Mrs. Beulah Ripley reported to police that rings she valued at S3.000 had been stolen from he home. Then she turned sadly to h eT housework. Noticing a lump beneath tha kitchen carpet, she took a ham mer and tried to pound it flat. She kept missing her tart-et, and in dis gust took a look. There were her rings. "It's lucky I'm not very good with a hammer," she commented.
